Osaka is a part of the Osaka-Kobe-Kamehana prefecture in the
Japanese Imperial State and encompasses a wide variety of corporate interests and living habitats.
The Japanese Imperial State was for many decades following the VITAS plague the sole superpower of the world, and the global acceptance of the nuyen as currency reflects that - however times have changed the JIT has gone from controlling 70% of the world's megacorporations to 20%. The zaibatsu system and strict hierarchy of the JIT gave it stability during the chaotic times of the start of the Sixth Age but these are now weaknesses, allowing the corporate sector to ossify and lose ground to the more innovative and inclusive western powers.
In Osaka that change has barely happened at all - here metahuman elements are allowed only in limited numbers, forced to take separate forms of transport, and are treated as one may expect from the most insensitive of Japanese. Cyberware must be of the highest quality and discretely displayed if at all, and respect for the traditional hierarchy of Japanese cultured must be observed at all time or punishment, in the many possible forms in which it can be dispensed in the JIT, will be sure to follow.
