The School House

In one of the largest depots of trade and transportation on the Mississippi River, The School House is where people tend to stop when they need a night of something good. Something fun, and a bit of entertainment. When you pass through the front doors your name is taken, coat and weapons checked and you'll be given the evenings itinerary. You might spot the owner of this fine establishment Lola Daiquiri lounging on one of those nice cushy chairs where the administration’s office used to sit, now her offices and those who run her establishment take clients.   You don’t want to go there unless you’re invited. Trust me.   The cafeteria and kitchen are the host of many people just stopping for a drink and a meal - acting as a tavern there's plenty of food and fresh water to go around. There’s plenty of entertainment in The School House. Some nights there’s dancing, some nights there’s a troup doing a play or a rendition of some of the old style theater acts if they’d been hired by one of the members of the City Council.   But if you’re aiming for more than drinking and dancing there are plenty of other rooms to seek your desires in. Each of the old classrooms have been repurposed for a person's desires. Smoking lounges, a conversation pit, Socratic seminars and sometimes if we’re lucky, a dragutar might come down and then, we might host a fighting pit down in the old boiler room. If you're in the mind for music, the orchestra room has plenty of minstrals looking to play you a bit of music for coin.   Some of the rooms have a small fee to get into, though we always return the coin you give in on the off chance you leave without your slacks. Some are for gambling, others for cards or simply keeping track of the machinations of little groups in the city proper. We’re all fair here, and we don’t mind a bit of gossip either, so be prepared to have at least something for the hens to peck on least they chase you from the flock.   If you’re not able to visit The School House here on the river, don’t shed a tear now. There're plenty of these establishments run across almost every river and path we’ve come around on. From Seattle and the Middle Grounds, all the way down to Mexico’s Temple Palace, these speakeasies are for all types of people and usually we’re fine folk.
