Delfan Belgrin

Delfan Hirideous Belgrin

Delfan is a young man at about 19 (as of the first book). He was born in Iskandor as the royal blacksmiths son and often helps out with his father. He aspires to be a knight and eventualy a commander in the Iskandor defence. However this dream of his remains a dream due to the Chief Commander of the Iskandor Forces does not want him in the group and completely despises him. Delfan's may well stay a dream even if he is one of the greatest melee fighters in the whole of Aslandia.   During the first book he is on patrol with a guard battalion that was headed down through Obly to Goros and eventually Brynsk before hearing about a village that had just been under attack. Cupo had been taken and all that remained was a large purple crystal protruding out of the ground. Once the king found out of this news he sent Delfan to find out what is happening to the villages and why they are disappearing. Delfan begins his 2-3 day journey down to Lairen...

The First Chapter

Dear Diary,   I have just been to see the king inform him of the disappearance of another village. I was sent down with a party to scout out the other villages in Meresia. When we went to Cupo, however, there was nothing there nothing but a large purple crystal. I was sent back to the castle to tell the king of the new news. The king wasn't happy about it but he entrusted me with a mission. To go and find out what is causing all the disappearances and to put a stop to it. The king reckons I should go and see someone called Alicia in the Lairen capital as she will know the answer to the problem. But I dont think that'll help. I reckon it was Ziians fault. They are attacking us and have found a way to do so without the need for troops. There probably attacking because they're still angry about us taking what is now known as Eastern Meresia from them in the Battle of Elephants Pass. I'm tempted to go to Ziian instead and scout them out. but to do so would be to defy my king and that won't end well. I definitely won't become a knight if I were to defy the king. besides, I would rather have to fight a 20ft Folderan Hound than defy the king.   Wouldn't this be a job for the council of thirteen instead of a Princess in another region? Or perhaps the king doesn't need to as he knows we can handle it without their help. But if the king truly thinks that then why has he sought help from a Lairen Princess.   Anyway, I have to go get ready to head off to Lortno.
