The Grave Messenger

The Grave Messenger is an annual footrace that traverses the entirety of the continent of Reedan. Hundreds of miles ran by those brave enough to attempt it, the winner receiving a substantial monetary prize and their name etched into a golden trophy shaped like the small messenger bag the original runner of this journey supposedly carried with her on her travels.

History

Recreating the surely mythical run of a young girl who witnessed the cliff wall where Victoria now resides fall at the hands of the Imperial Army. As the story goes she ran to all four Kingdoms of Reedan desperate to warn them of the event and rally a defense but her efforts were fruitless as the army poured over the continent in due course.

Execution

Runners start at city hall in Victoria and run counter clockwise around the continent passing through the capital of each of the four kingdoms. It's a journey of hundreds of miles and day upon days of continuous running.

Components and tools

In the modern era most who attempt the feat have support teams helping them stay healthy, nourished and injury free as they attempt the tremendous journey.

Ultra endurance athletes consider this the ultimate challenge and a small number choose to tackle it each year with fewer still completing it successfully
