Glorious Empire
The Glorious Empire is an imperial polity in the Starweb, the largest single nation and largest member state in the Stellar Compact. With a history stretching back almost a millennium, it maintains a proud culture and presents itself as the political unification of the Jennar species.
As a species-wide government, all Jennars are considered subject to it, whether they like it or not. While most direct control can be escaped by fleeing to the Imperial Frontier, and a few odd situations exist, such as Absaroka, a planet settled by humans and rebellious Jennars, this remains an ardent point of Imperial ideology and perpetual source of resentment for some on account of its perceived contradictions with Unified Era principles under the Stellar Compact.
Structure
An imperial state governed from a central capital, the Empire is ruled out of Waterfall City on the Jennar homeworld Ka-rik-shar, with brief exceptions due to wars and internal strife. Its power structure is founded on numerous Families, the largest of which control provinces containing dozens of systems.Laws and Culture
The Empire has a state religion, a polytheistic belief system originating with its cultural progenitors on Ka-rik-shar. In the past, Imperial subjects and foreign missionaries holding to other faiths faced execution, but sapient rights legislation in the Unified Era has tempered this and forced a grudging toleration of religious freedom.As a species-wide government, all Jennars are considered subject to it, whether they like it or not.
