The Saga of Hodulf

Summary

The Saga of Hodulf or Hodulfssaga is a legendary saga about Hodulf, who was one of Asgard's famous mercenary-kings. His champions had to submit to harsh rules which are still enforced within Ymirsborg. When Half had spent 18 years of free-booting, he returned to Hordaland, where Half's stepfather Jotmund had ruled in his stead. Jotmund invited Hodulf and half of his warband to a feast and swore his loyalty to Hodulf. However, Jotmund put them to the sword or burnt them to death inside his hall. Only two warriors survived and managed to escape, Utsteinn and Hrokr the Black.

Spread

The Saga of Hodulf is well-known within Ymirsborg, and less known in the rest of Asgard and the neighbouring territories outside of local stories and myths.

Cultural Reception

Hodulf's Saga is very important to Ymir's Reavers. It's the foundation which their organization is built upon.

In Literature

It is known for its great diversity in content, ranging from folklore to heroic poetry. Some of the poetry is of considerable age.
