Defeated the remaining few descended into obscurity inside the city and the Banshee queen's ranks, not until the great betrayal of Sylvanas did few astray forsaken henchmen claw at the rim of return. - All taking a vow to ascend from the Chapter of Woe.

About

The Chapter of Woe is a now-defunct risen scarlet unholy order that sought to secure the lands of Lordearon for themselves in undeath, especially the region of Eastweald. Their zealotry was exemplified even more in death than it was in life. Their cursed existence is to walk as the damnned puppets under the influence of a mysterious dreadlords, they bring chaos and struck fear in living who walk the land of Eastern Plaguelands, making them never feel safe in day and night.   Through use of dark and demonic sorceries, the Chapter worked tirelessly to secure the corpses of the fallen Scarlet martyrs so they can serve the cause once more, albeit twisted. Based on the structures of the Crimson Legion, Commander Traeich and Dark Bishop Ignatius lead the Chapter to glory of restoring the Lordaeron.

Background

The Rising Flame

Many of the Risen crusaders found themselves scattered across the Plaguelands. Hunting the undead and living alike in lonesome vigil. At this time the mysterious figuire of the Dark Bishop choses the few of these Risen and uses his psychic powers to lead them into the eternally burning ruins of the Stratholm. The formal ceremony with those chose who heeded the call in the burning Stratholme gave rise to the Order of the Risen Flame is born. Among them was crusader Traeich which would become the Commander of this new risen warband.   The Risen Flame beginan their crusade in full against the lands of Plaguelands. Their first goal was to venture rest, to the restoring lands of the Western Plaguelands. With the sermon and words of encouragement from Scarlet Augur Woldmar, their pilgrimage begins. Their attempt to claim the lands there makes them to make the camp in the abandoned ruins of Caer Darrow. During this time they clashed with the draenei order and the local group of human rangers and scouts. This period was marked as unremarkable for them, a constant roaming around the Plaguelands and attacking anyone in their way without any other purpose than to battle.

Strife in Arathi

The Order of the Risen Flame is tasked with a mission of retriving the corpse of the fallen scarlet martyr, Cormag Fyrnor from the Arathi Highlands. The resting place of the martyr shrouded and protected from the likes of the undead. Their attempt starts by claiming the Durnhole Keep from the local wildlife. From there, the Risen used the Keep as a staging point for the eventual invasion of the Arathi Highlands.   With the meat wagon at their disposal, they ventured into the Highlands. Searching for the grave of their fallen martyr. Their efforts proved futile at first, finding the wrong graves, digging the undesirable corpses from the ground or some historical and archeological findings not useful to the likes of the Order.   When the hope was fading, Commander Traeich himself found the grave of Cormag the Silent. There were the tales of his tall and giantic appernace as he gave his life away defending the bridge of the Caer Darrow. The Crimson Giant was digged out before them, preserved in his armor. Since the Order found their target, there was little need for them to stay in the Highlands. Yet their plans of claiming the body were placed in jeopardy when the order of local highlands knights attacked them. Their task to protect the Stromgarde from likes of the Order.   In a series of duels between knights and the Risen, the scarlets gained the ground to face off against the humans. Fueld by hatered Crusader Maloru faces the knight order leader, dark magic, trickeries, Holy Light and holy waters are exchanged as the darkness fights against the Light. The holy granades flied around and the ground was consecrated much to the disadvantage of the Risen Flame. But they did not lost hope, with burning speeches of they charged once more to strike at the enemy.   The long fought battle had an undecisive outcome. While the knight order managed to protect their lands, they couldn’t reclaim the martyr corpse. On the other hand, the Risen Flame lost their meat wagon to transport martyr’s corpse in safety which risked the proper execution of ritual later. Yet after the battle transpired both sides retreated to their encampments.   When the Order returned to Durnhole, The Dark Bishop, the Augur and the Necrolord started the preparations to raise the Crimson Giant so one day he could walk the earth one more.

Victory, Defeat and Change.

The Order of the Risen Flame grew ever stronger. Challening anyone who dared to step into the Stratholme which becomes the bastion for the Risen undeath. The main rivals in this area were the local group of rangers and scouts who ferociously and with mutual hate fight against the Risen. The skrimishes happened in abandoned villages, in caves, on bridges.   Then the three groups of rangers, holy order and other military force decided to strike and battle the Order right near their very own homelands. Theren the Crimson Augur Woldmar falls in the battle to these three groups. The Light turned against the Risen and the sheer numbers of the attackers forced them to retreat under the gates of the Stratholm and deep into the city where they face the crushing defeat.

The Woe born before the Cold.

Following their defeat. The Order of the Risen Flame is disbanded and survivors are reformed into the Chapter of Woe. Traeich ruthlessness grows as he accepts the failure. The Chapter of Woe is sharper and deadlier than even its predecessor. Their first task is to venture into the cold land of Northrend with help of the newly joined risen centurion, Roland the Red who becomes new voice of the Dark Bishop   With his help, the Chapter use the hijacked deathgate in Northdale to get into the frozen wastes of Dragonblight and from there their first target is to fight to reach martyrdom and thrill of battle. They walked through the Dragonblight, seeking the forces of the Horde and the Alliance alike, fighting with them in skrimishes just for their desire of battle and war in faith. One of their most remarkable battles were against the zandalari trolls of the Zanchuli Dominion and the Stormwind City Sentry alongside few others from the Alliance.   After these skrimishes, the Chapter of Woe decided to strike in the heart of the Scarlet Onslaught. The Capital of the New Hearthglen was a place of many devoted and holy servants of the Crimson Light. A place with corpses of the fallen martyrs as well as the living, a perfect raising ground for the Chapter in need of greater numbers.   Under the cover of the night, the chapter strikes by using the rowboats to approach the New Hearthglen from the sea as its defenders sailed to face another threat. They raid the city, kill the scarlet civilians on their way. Yet the defenders quickly return to protect the city and battle the Chapter. It is there where the Chapter for the first time faced off against the Blood of Martyrs. Everything went well for the Chapter, the battle to be won in their favor until the sudden death of Roland the Red which caused the scale to tip in the Blood of Martyrs favor. This caused the Chapter to retreat.   After that, the Chapter returned in glory to the Stratholme, having led their most succesful campaign so far.

Recent History

Dark Bishop tasked the Chapter to claim Caer Darrow once more. It was there where bones of Cormag were raised by Necrolord Deranthius. The Crimson Giant returned after month of preparations. At the same time. The Chapter was ambushed by the two insane and lost death knights who claimed to be a part of some forgotten order. The battle was though as the insanity of the death knights outmached even that of the Chapter.   The Chapter ambushes the Highblood Myrmidons and the Dustpaw Caravan foolishly walking the Plaguelands. Yet it was at the same time where the forgotten order struck again with their horde of ghouls which made the Chapter fall back due to disadvantage. Such a defeat didn't make it easier for the Chapter, for soon after Crusader Malrou had to be apperhanded and tortured due to his deviations from Chapter’s ideology. He was restored to the Chapter even more devoted to the cause and more insane than before.   Soon after that the daugther of Commander Traeich which he killed with his own hands was risen from the grave to serve the cause of the Chapter. With that, Commander Traeich declaers the campaign across all of the Lordaeron. Burning the farmsteads, striking at other supply lines and chains. Among those who opposed them where members of the paladin chapter of Silver Hand and Blood of Martyrs. In one of such battles the Chapter killed Champion Sigvan, an eye-for-eye payback against the Martyrs.   This leds the Dark Bishop to appointing Archivist, Haehilde which would write down every bit of information about their glorious Chapter. In their great campaign, they marched against the Hearthglen but were pushed back by the Lightforged and the Silver Hand members.   Recently, the Chapter of Woe entered the full scale war with the Blood of Martyrs for fate of who would be the one to rule scarlet lands which appears to have ended in their retreat to Strathholme. It is unknown if their devilish number were destroyed or are merely lying in wait ...

Speaking of names suspected behind a new Risen movement, this one cannot be missing. Lieutenant of the Scarlet Crusade, notorious murderer, more animal than man. The list of known crimes committed by this blasphemer is almost worth an encyclopedia of its own. While sparing you the many details of his misdeeds, know that we have unlikely seen the last of Traeich yet. Like with his fellow names on this haunting list, this paladin has failed to find any convincing reports of a proper corpse disposal.
About: Commander Traeich.

Knowingly corrupt since the days of Lordaeron's clergy, it comes as little surprise that this insult of a priest ended up in the heretical Scarlet Church. Adding this name to the list almost didn't happen, for Ignatius was among the known casualties of the Stratholme slaughter against Dathrohan's last bastion. The list he is missing on however is that of Risen returned to the grave after the third culling of Stratholme. If there is indeed a new Risen movement haunting the Plaguelands, this name would be a likely suspect behind it all.

This one comes as more of a personal addition, I shall admit. A tragic tale which didn't really find its spot in any other chapter of this here encyclopedia. Maloru Wilkshire, most definitely an example of a tragically mislead paladin. A holy warrior most devout but trapped within the clutches of the Scarlet Crusade. This is a name that used to show up on numerous Argent reports in the past, majorly participating in merciless raids - until suddenly it ceased for good. It is this paladin's suspicion that Maloru's pure faith inevitably led to a falling out with his red brethren, and given his activity around the vicinity of Stratholme another suspicion creeps to mind…
About: Crusader Maloru Wilkshire
The Crimson Giant, Blackguard to the Crimson Devil (Aliya Lacrimosa) herself. Confirmed slain at the bridge to Caer Darrow, the knights of the Silver Hand have foolishly neglected to burn his corpse. A corpse which is now missing. If this behemoth was indeed to walk once more, it would be this paladin's guess that this beast needs to pledge itself to a figure of authority once more - perhaps one of the names among this list.
About: Cormag Fyrnor
A brutal leader of men, known to burn down villages and villagers alike. Scarlet prisoners spoke of Athelstan being fueled by darker instincts than pure zealotry, a claim backed up by reports of his atrocities committed against the peasant folk of Lordaeron. The final report on Athelstan's person speaks of his own blood-brother (an Argent most devout) ending his life, yet fails to mention the fate of his corpse thereafter.
About: Athelstan Garside
Admittingly an odd choice for this list, for the Scarlet known as Haehilde or alternatively described as "The Fiend" or "The Devil" has been reported dead for over a decade. Regardless of that a corpse has never been found, leaving the nightmarish prospect of this dark wizard still roaming the lands to this date.
