Keetaspore (/ki: tə spoː/ [KEE tah SPOR])
This article is about the mushroom species. If you are looking for the character, please see Keeta.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Pileus (cap): Measures 2 - 4 metres tall and 7 - 9 metres across. Flat or convex, with a smooth surface. The cap margin may be even or split, depending on the specimen's age. Red in colour, ranging from strawberry to cherry, generally uniform across the surface. No warts.
Lamellae (gills): Adnate, crowded gills. Dark brown. Produces a peachy orange spore print. Additionally, large, gold to orange, bioluminescent globules are attached near the stem, loosely called hymenophores.
Stipe (stem): Fibrous texture. Measures 4 - 8 metres tall, 2 - 4 metres across at the bulbous base, and 1 - 2 metres across where it connects to the cap. Cream white in colour.
Veil and annulus: The flaring partial veil disintigrates after the first three years of the mushtree's life.
Hyphae and mycelia: In the immediate vicinity of mushtree, the hyphae are rhizoidal and range in colour from burgandy red to eggplant purple to cinnamon brown. Further away from the mushtree, these colours fade.
There are meant to be images but the file size is too big and I don't know what to do about it.

Growth Rate & Stages
Keetaspores grow at a rate of about 35cm a year, taking 23 years to reach their full height. They can live for up to 50 years, after which they shrivel and decay and are eventually reabsorbed into the earth. However, their mycelium networks can survive indefinitely, as long as there are sufficient nutrients available.
