Hyperdrive Engines

After the huge success of Sublight Engines boosting the travel economy around the Milky Way Galaxy, the Union decided it was time to build to progress further out of the galaxy. Scientists and Engineers united to design and build engines that are capable of traveling at lightspeed to accommodate the long-distance travel between galaxies. Eventually, a design was created but deemed to bring huge stress on small ships. The Union then regulated a requirement of minimum specifications of ships that will be able to test out these Hyperdrive Engines as they called it. Eventually, the tests were a success and manufacturing progressed accordingly. As a result, only a few ships, most biased toward exploration, were designed and allowed to carry these types of engines for easier travel between galaxies.
Eventually, however, the Union was able to formulate a system of public-utility transportation that allows the general public to be able to travel between galaxies for business and other matters. Most of the ships used in these systems are way bigger than the usual shuttles and ships, they were designed to be able to handle the stress of traveling at lightspeed and to accommodate a load of passengers, along with shipment and cargo.
