Operation America United
The Conflict
Prelude
Following the mass protests against the USA in Mexico in the early 2040s, Mexican-U.S. relations had greatly declined. As a result, the United States saw it an opportunity to claim Mexican land which was rich in now becoming rare petroleum. It would also provide valuable territory. Mass mobilisation of U.S. troops started on 9th September, and before Mexico could respond the invasion had begun.
Deployment
The United States of America launched a very swift invasion for territory and prestige. On 25th December 2047, the Canadian invasion of the United States began. The involvement of the Catholic Alliance is very much a mystery still, only preliminary numbers are available. The Canadian troops were deployed and they swiftly overtook U.S. lines and moved inland.
The Mexican defense forces were deployed with inefficiency, only causing minor bumps in the U.S. war machine.
Battlefield
The battle was fought on the Northern Front and the Southern Front. The Northern Front battles started on 25th December, when the Canadian counter invasion took place. U.S. troops suffered a majority of their casualties on the northern front due to the unexpected nature and lack of preparedness.
Conditions
The northern front was fought in the cold winter climate of the U.S.-Canada border while the southern front was fought on the warm Mexican-U.S. border.
The Engagement
The initial invasion was a massive success. The U.S. troops made huge headway into Mexican territory and easily defeated any opposition. However, as the counter-invasion started, the war became more difficult. Fearing a naval invasion by the Catholic Alliance, the U.S. was forced to defend all its borders with large forces. The Canadian invasion was fast and used all the advantages they could muster. They did not focus on holding territory and followed a scorch earth policy. American attempts to take back land was proving costly. Finally, on 21st October 2048, the United States agreed to white peace. All conquered territory was returned. Reparations were paid by the United States to Canada.
