Dragon ivory
Dragon Ivory is made of, or is dragon teeth. Toothed dragons shed their teeth on a certain basis to ensure that they always have sharp teeth. Because of this, you can obtain dragon ivory without killing the dragon. Dragon ivory is very rare and and highly prized. It is harder and tougher than elephant ivory and it's also denser. Berlintini I of Berin was known to have had a full set of teeth made of this material for 71st birthday since he didn't have any of his real teeth left and his elephant ivory set broke (don't ask how, it just happened).
Properties
Material Characteristics
It's white, smooth, hard and heavy.
Physical & Chemical Properties
It's like elephant ivory, only harder, heavier and it has a pure white color with no discoloration. It's more indestructible than regular ivory. Unlike ivory, it never yellows and it keeps it's shiny white coloration for over 2 millennia before showing any signs of discoloration.
Geology & Geography
It comes from dragons. The dragon ivory from brontodragons is considered the best because brontodragons have huge teeth (their canines are as large as medium sized elephant tusks and their molars are flat topped and like giant bricks of dragon ivory).
Origin & Source
It comes from dragons.
History & Usage
Everyday use
Jewelry, ornaments , sculpting and expensive dishes (like plates, bowls or platters).
Manufacturing & Products
Jewelry, statuettes, plates, platters, bowls, small chests, decorations and even wall paneling.
Hazards
You don't want to flood the market with this stuff because it could lose value. Getting hold of it is dangerous since if you are too close to a dragon it could feel threatened (chances for this are low since you probably will never see the dragon) or more likely, another dragon seeker will try to kill you to get this valuable material without having to track the dragon for months to get it's tooth.
Environmental Impact
None. The dragons naturally shed their teeth on a regular-ish basis.
Reusability & Recycling
Nobody throws this away. It's too valuable (50 times more than regular ivory). However, broken dishes and the like can be made into beads, jewelry or fake teeth.
Distribution
Trade & Market
It's a luxury item used by many rich folk. Most of the market's supply comes from dragon seekers and from the Unified Kingdom.
Law & Regulation
There are no legal regulations for this material. It's kind of self-regulated due to it's rarity and by traders who keep it back to jack up it's price to make a fortune selling it.
