I have watched the tutorial videos on creating subscriber groups and making content visible, I have read the Codex article on the topic, and I have asked for help on Discord without any success. According to everything I've watched/read, I have everything set up correctly and yet my subscribers cannot see any articles.

Steps to Reproduce

1) Open a subscribers account. 2) Click on the world to see the home page   No articles appear even though there are a few articles that the subscriber group says they have access to.

Hello Babawonga   Can you give us more information on this - it goes without saying that the security system works.

  • Which world are you trying to use?
  • Are your subscribers logged in?
  • Do they have the subscriber group assigned to them?
  •   Can you give us specific details for who is trying to access your world (username) and which article they are trying to access?

I am using P2E. Yes, I am troubleshooting by being in my wife's account on a different browser. Her account is logged in, her character is in the campaign. She can see the Campaign Page, but cannot see anything on the World Home Page. Yes, they are in the subscriber group P2E Campaign Players>   I am making the assumption that when the player is on the characters campaign page and click on the link "Explore the World of P2E" they should be able to see articles that are marked as private, but open to subscribers on the page the link takes them to.

You have to define which of your private articles your players will be able to see. To do that, the articles you want them to see should ALSO have the subscriber group of the party (in this case the automatically created subscriber group called " P2E Campaign Players".

  • I am closing this since. it is not a bug. Feel free to message me here if you need further clarification.

After spending way too much time on figuring this out I have finally resolved it. Here is what your Codex says about making articles accessibly to to subscribers:   "To let your subscribers read private articles, go to the article you want to share and find the top panel in the right sidebar. Make sure it's set to private. Then click the green button and select from the list of subscriber groups. To remove a group, click the red button next to the group you wish to remove."   It says this about categories and subscribers:   "You can also give your subscribers access to an entire category. To do so, go edit your category and, at the bottom of the page, set it as Private and choose the subscriber group." However, I am required to make the category accessibly to subscribers in order to make articles accessibly to them. If I don't make the category accessible to them they can see no article set to private even if they are in a subscriber group assigned to the article. If I give them access to a category that is private they still see no articles until I add a subscriber group to the articles. So the article has to have a subscriber group AND the category must have a subscriber group. Additionally, if there are subcategories within a category they too must have the subscriber group added in order to make articles visible to subscribers of the article. I have tried this with multiple categories, articles and subscriber groups. So if this was not the intention then there is a bug. If this was the intention than you should update your codex so people don't waste time following incorrect directions.   I also get an error 404 when I attempt to delete a subscriber group.

Hey, thank you for your notes, and apologies for the confusion! I have changed the wording on the codex regarding categories as that is indeed rather misleading.   On World Anvil no permission inheritance of any kind takes place. Each resources has to be setup separately.   Subscriber group that cannot be deleted was most likely a group that was automatically created for the campaign or a player. They cannot be deleted separately at this time.
