I might be having this problem too - I've contacted my world's main owner to find out if the same problem is happening.   EDIT: for reference, I am on Firefox, with a Mac running 12.7.1

I just had this problem. I didn't see this bug and so wound up opening this one by mistake: https://www.worldanvil.com/udan-tracker/6dea6892-aed4-4005-95a6-c1d77f2867b2/view   When I uploaded the images as described here https://www.worldanvil.com/udan-tracker/6dea6892-aed4-4005-95a6-c1d77f2867b2/view , they wound up on my world "Legends of Elohey". A key items here is that wasn't the last world I edited any articles, that was "Hoist the Colors". I did switch to Legends of Elohey mid-week last week, but edited nothing.

Not sure if this helps or not, but in my IT experience more information is better.   My collaborater added me to the other world that my images were being uploaded to, and sure enough when I upload something to World 1, it shows up in the images for World 2. Unlike the world's owner, I have no ability to move the images to the other world.

This just happened today while I was preparing content for a game later today. I uploaded this image: https://www.worldanvil.com/i/5538191 to this world: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/star-wars3A-shards-jarissa where I am NOT the owner but the CO-OWNER. I had https://www.worldanvil.com/w/star-wars3A-shards-jarissa active at the time.   The following is what I observed:  

The image : https://www.worldanvil.com/i/5538191 was placed in this world https://www.worldanvil.com/w/tales-of-justice-kummer-wolfe which I am the owner of but have not opened in almost a week. I've been primarily in this world https://www.worldanvil.com/w/star-wars3A-shards-jarissa or this world https://www.worldanvil.com/w/hoist-the-colors-kummer-wolfe writing worldbuilding.

The image : https://www.worldanvil.com/i/5538191 is listed as being owned by 'Jarissa'. While I don't mind my wife owning images I upload, I thought the image would be listed as me ( Kummer Wolfe ) as the owner.

When I tried to move the image from https://www.worldanvil.com/w/tales-of-justice-kummer-wolfe to https://www.worldanvil.com/w/hoist-the-colors-kummer-wolfe , I can't. There is no option for the world that I'm only a co-owner on.

Instead I moved it to https://www.worldanvil.com/w/to-boldly-go--kummer-wolfe so at least the image won't be out of place.

This is the 5th time in a row over as many days that I've had this happen in the way described above. Uploaded images by me wind up in one of the following places:

https://www.worldanvil.com/w/elohey-kummer-wolfe

https://www.worldanvil.com/w/scrapjack-universe-kummer-wolfe

So far that has been consistent with each image upload. Name of file doesn't seem to matter.
