When writing an article, on occasion the URL has changed itself into a string of letters and numbers, even if I haven't edited the URL or the article title myself. I haven't checked if it's the article's ID, but either way it shouldn't be happening. Thankfully I can edit the URL, but if it's happening for non-sages then it's a bigger issue.   I haven't yet figured out if anything specific is triggering it, but it just happened with the latest article I've been writing. I've done nothing but write 50 words in the vignette, so nothing out of the ordinary. It has also happened twice before, to me.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Make an article
  • Start typing something
  • URL might possibly change itself
  • Operating System

    Windows

    Browser

    Google Chrome

    Related Entity

I don't have any articles as an example but I've seen it on this article by Make Lore, Not War.

Hey Mochimanoban, you are probably seeing the initial slug being set to an article on creation - we set an ID-like slug since the article doesn't have a title yet to generate the slug based on it. Once a user sets a title (or a custom slug, for sages+) then the slug will conform to the title or custom slug set. So unless you have experienced the slug being changed in any other instance that its initial one, this is not a bug. Otherwise, there could be more it so let me know to either continue investigation or close this bug!

The article ID is changing to that slug long after creation. The article I linked, which I'll link again, is a fully written article, it should not have this URL. It's reverting to the initial slug wayyy after the article is created, in my experience.   link here

I'd also like to mention that the slug changing to the proper url once title is chosen is not really happening for me either? I created the following article as a test, gave it a title, a small line of text in the article, and now, a day later, still has the id-like slug. As a Sage, this is a inconvenience, since I can change them, but if other people have this issue, that's going to be a problem for them.

(For context, this isn't the first time it's happened in my articles, it's been happening for at least half a month and in multiple worlds)

Thank for added information from you both, I will be looking it this further. Heads up Catoblepon, the article you linked is still Draft so I cannot view it right now.

During WE I noticed this, but mainly as article titles being "stuck" as a previous title. My best guess is that it's caused by writing in the article itself before the title autosave completes. I can sometimes recreate this bug (with the title either not updating, or it reverting to the ID) by doing that.

I noticed this as well during WE. After Mochi informed me about my article having this behavior, I've seen others that have the same issue in other articles of mine like this one here

Hello, we have deployed a fix for this! To unstuck the old ID-like (or any old) slug, change the title which will trigger an automatic update of the slug and you can revert to your previous title after this and the slug should change accordingly. Please let me know if the issue is fixed for you!

Yes that did it! I applied it to this article that Mochi had initially mentioned and it worked! Thank you so much for fixing this <3
