Template: Historical Entry

Prompts that malfunction: "Related Characters", "Related Organizations".

Prompts that work fine so far: "Related Location"

Prompts not tested by me yet: "Related Article", "Related Session Report", "Related Species".

Expected result: Now I have all previous content plus, just above "Related Timelines & Articles", another round image that links to whatever I added.

Actual result: Now I have no "Related" people or orgs at all. I do still have a "Related Location", if such already existed, and I do still have "Related Timelines & Articles". It has not converted the missing Related Characters or Related Organizations into this list. Example: Will of the Earth had several Characters and Orgs connected to it on 31st July 2023. Now it does not.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. View existing "Historical Entry". Example: Mason-Baptiste Lafayette arrives in Detroit Note that Entry has a Related Character or Related Organization already attached, probably years ago.
  2. Click "Edit Historical Entry".
  3. Click "Show advanced options". In "Related Characters" and/or "Related Organizations" prompts, add at least one existing article.
  4. Save.
  5. View. All "Related Character" and "Related Organization" circular images are gone. No space exists where they ought to be present.
  6. At no point do I receive an error message of any sort.

Each step appears to function correctly. I am able to start typing "Penny" and have Penny Dreadful show up in my Character dropdown. I am able to click the suggested list, and see her article listed correctly in the box. However, even after I have saved, I discover that her article does not include this Historical Entry in her sidebar.

  7. Edit Historical Entry.
  8. Now both prompts have blank boxes. Not only did my recent change not remain, but also all previous connections have been deleted from these prompts.
  9. Optional:

  10. Try again: select a character to add to "Related Characters" prompt. Or, select an Organization to add to "Related Orgnizations" prompt. Looks right? Great. Save. Count to twenty. Save again. Count to fifty. View. Still wrong. Edit Historical Entry. Those two prompts are empty again.

I have the same problem, but with Related Article drop downs all being blank. Old events I made some time ago still have theirs, but new events cannot have any Related Article applied.

Hi i cannot reproduce this one ! Can you try again and if you see it again give me a bit more context or better yet the link of involved article / historical entry

HS GMs @ 05 Sep, 2023 05:41:43

Looks like everything other than Related Article is now populating correctly. I have one world where I left all the default articles still in place and the Related Article drop down only shows those. If I wanted to link to something that is not a character, organisation, species, location, or session report, I am unable to (e.g. a timeline entry for the invention of a technology or the launch of an important vessel).

Hi GorkamWorks. I included link in original bug report, in the "Steps to Reproduce" bit, but I see that font does not change in a way that makes that easy to spot. We are looking at https://www.worldanvil.com/w/tales-of-justice-kummer-wolfe/h/f4952794-2606-4cc0-9955-c57f2da0935b as today's easy-to-reference example.

I am delighted to report that when I opened it up today, one Organization is attached already. And when I attempt to connect another Org and a Character, this also succeeds.

Further, in contrast to HS GMs' experience reported above, I can attach an (article) and have it persist on this historical article. Apologies if I'm misunderstanding what they are trying to do!

I think my Bug is Solved. Thank you.

Side note: I'm about to be extremely away from my keyboard for about twelve days, and I'm taking my Co-Owner Kummer Wolfe with me. He might be able to follow up on something for you during that time frame, if you want to try messaging him directly, but he'll have at most ten minutes of spare time per day. Otherwise, I can follow up further after the 20th of September.

Here is a screenshot of my timeline entry where I had a Related Article already linked prior to this bug being introduced. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1010979757518753894/1151985807620587560/Articles_in_Place.jpg   Here is a screenshot of the Related Articles dropdown being blank, where it should still have my article in there that I had placed previously. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1010979757518753894/1151985807897395282/Articles_Blank_Dropdown.jpg   Here is a screenshot of the same timeline entry after I had saved the entry and it had removed my article because it could no longer link it: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1010979757518753894/1151985806928519209/Articles_in_Missing.jpg   This is happening in every single timeline entry I have on all my worlds where I have a Related Article that I had linked previously, or I want to link. The dropdown is not finding any articles other than those default ones that the world originally started with.
