Kemonimimi

A race coming from a rare genetic disease that can occurred in the past with changelings druids. This disease caused parts of their bodies to be permanently transformed into specific animal parts and only allowed them to transform the other parts of their bodies into parts of that animal. This turned them into a permanent mixture of a humanoid and an animal.
As time passed several discoveries were made about the disease.
  • It only effects changelings, no druids of other races have seen such an occurrence.
  • Only females contract this disease and any daughter they have will contract it as well while their sons remain unharmed.
  • Multiple variations were discovered around the world. With the three most common types being the Wolfkin, Kitsune and Nekopara.
  • This disease could not be cured in any way, any attempt at curing it has only killed the infected in the process.

  • In current times most Kemonomimi tend to live in seclusion as they are hated by any changeling and depending on their variation most races don’t even want to talk to them. The only exception being the Nekopara who’s catlike nature has been accepted by a lot of societies although mostly for entertainment value and as slaves. This has caused them to be the least liked by other Kemonomimi who are shunned by most.
While they have trouble trusting people and creating bonds with other races once they consider someone part of their pack they will do anything to protect that person.

    race features:

    Darkvision

Due to your ancestors' time in the darkness, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

    Keen Senses

The Kemonomimi has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing.

    Natural Weapons(only in Kemono state)

Your claws are unarmed weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d6 plus your Strength modifier, instead of bludgeoning normal for an unarmed strike.

    Kemono State

As an action, you can call upon you Kemono abilities and transform your appearance to that of your Animal form. This can only be done a certain amount of times a day depending on the players level (See chart for full list) During this state what abilities change depends on what part of the body changes, the body parts you can change depend on the players level.

    Kemono state in combat

It takes one action to transform into your desired Kemono state, on the second turn of using Kemono State you have to make a CON Saving throw of 10 + 2 for every body part that you add on top of the initial one. This can be done for a maximum of 3 body parts at once.   Example: players transforms arms and legs and after 2 turns they to make have a con save of 12 (10 for the arms and +2 for the legs) if the players fails they turn back to their base form. If the player is capable of transforming more than once a day ( see chart below) they have to wait 2 turns before they can transform again

    Kemono state transformation table

Level Amount a day Amount of body parts at once
    1 1 1
    3 2 2
    6 3
    8 4 3
    10 5

    20 10
The amount of times you can transform resets after a long rest

    Kemono state outside of Combat.

The Kemono state is less taxing when the user is not in active combat and so they are able to maintain longer outside of combat.   The only change outside of combat is that when the player wants to transform they also need to roll a D12 to decide how many hours they can keep their transformation for, once that time passes they need to roll a con save(similar to combat con save) if they want to have it any longer, if they succeed they must roll another D12 to reset the timer. The player is able to cancel out the transformation at any point. It also automatically ends if you are unconscious, drop to 0 HP, or die.   Transformations outside of combat count towards their daily transformation being used.
