Weapon
Legendary Requires Attunement
This sword has a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls. This sword also crits on a 19 or 20 attack roll.
This legendary weapon takes the form of longsword and with a bonus action is able to transform into two shortswords, splitting in half at the center.
Longsword version: 1d8+STR (1d10+STR versatile) piercing damage plus 1d12 lightning damage
Shortsword version: 1d6+FIN piercing damage plus 1d12 lightning damage
There are two shortswords while in the shortsword form. The swords have the light and finesse properties.
The blades of these legendary weapons are made with Absolite shards and as such, they are granted abilities outside of the norm.
Lifetaker: These Absolite infused weapons have a charge based system. When a creature is struck by these weapons, they must make a CON saving throw (DC= 17) or succumb to 6d4 necrotic damage as the life force of the creature is drawn into the axe heads. The blades share their charge and gain charge equal to the necrotic damage the creature takes. Once
Balmung has consumed a total fifty damage as a result of this ability, it becomes fully charged. You are unable to use
Balmung normally while it is fully charged.
While unable to use
Balmung with max charge, there are options available to expend the held charge.
Vantage: (10 charge) As a bonus action the user can expend the energy available to push themselves in any direction by up to 30 feet. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
Sol: (10 charge) As a bonus action the user can expend the energy available to heal themselves for 10 hit points.
Colossus: (50 charge) As a free action you imbue this weapon with the wrath to slay giants. The next attack landed with this weapon will result in max damage for every dice roll. If this strike were to land on a giant or creature of huge or larger, the damage is doubled. Saving throws for the necrotic damage and otherwise must still be made.
