Hidden and Proud. Sharing many physical similarities to humans, elves are a proud species of quite intelligent beings who are naturally attuned to magic. They are often discriminated against for their differences from humans, primarily the destructive potential they wield with the magical power they're born with. Thus, they tend to live isolated from humankind in distant villages, practicing their sacred arts in peace. The only major physical difference between humans and elves are the pointed ears elves possess, however, this trait is easy to hide.   Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2, alongside any bonuses granted by your subrace.   Age. Elves mature around their late teens much like humans, but they typically claim adulthood at around 100 and live roughly 700 years.   Alignment. Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others’ freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not.   Size. Elves are between 5 and 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is medium.   Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.     Darkvision. By nature, elves are accustomed to the night. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Aethersense. Your elvish blood attunes you to magic by nature, allowing you to see it clearly as well. You know the Detect Magic spell, and can cast it without expending a spell slot. You only cast it this way once per long rest.   Aetheric Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.   Subraces. Elves come in several different shapes and sizes based on their environments. Choose 1 of the following subraces when creating your character:       Wood Elf - Elves that live in deep, primordial forests and have an even deeper connection to nature than other elves. Wood elves are often seen as druids and shamans, and separate themselves from most other cultures. Most wood elves have a pair of wooden horns that resemble deer antlers sprouting from their heads, and others have skin that appears very wood-like.   Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 1.   Rooted in Nature. Your natural connection to nature is deep, and thus, it augments your natural abilities. You know the Druidcraft cantrip. You also know the Ensnaring Strike spell, and can cast it without spending a spell slot once a day. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for these spells.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write Sylvan.   Drow - A species of elf that can only be born in the Baleful Below. Drow boast dark blue skin and red eyes, along with fairly monotone hair. Much more sinister than other elf types, drow are born to appreciate and cause chaos.   Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1.   From the Below. The fact you were born in the Baleful Below has granted you sinister abilities. You gain proficiency with the Stealth skill. You also know the Speak with Animals spell, and can cast it without spending a spell slot a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses upon a long rest. When casting Speak with Animals this way, you can only target insects and arachnids with it.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write Undercommon.   High Elf - A species of elves who are much more attuned with magic than other elf types. Often made up of scholars and nobles, high elves have keen minds and sharp cunning. They are the most common kind of elf seen by humans.   Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1.   High Ancestry. Your high elf heritage and education has granted you superior abilities. You know 1 cantrip from the wizard or sorcerer spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting modifier for that cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, your magical abilities improve even further thanks to experience, boosting your arcane prowess. When you land a spell attack roll, that spell deals bonus damage equal to your proficiency bonus.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write 1 additional language of your choice.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish, and any language your subrace grants you.
