Summoner Servant Variant: Demi-Servant
As a variant rule under the Game Master's discretion, your servant can be what's known as a demi-servant. Demi-servants are special because they are still very much a normal person but they also carry the soul of a historical/legendary figure. This infusion of the soul grants this person servant-like abilities. However, not all traits are carried by the demi-servant. The following traits pertain to demi-servants:
- Demi-servants require food, water, and proper long rests and also age normally. If the demi-servant is of a race that has different long rest rules, they follow those rules instead.
- Demi-servants can't be transported into the ethereal plane. However if they are a servant that can send objects into the ether, they can still do that.
- Demi-servants have normal Death Save rules like other player characters. If a demi-servant dies, they can only be resummoned with a Command Seal. If the Summoner runs out of Command Seals, the servant's soul leaves the person's body completely. The servant's soul can only return if the host's body is still alive and willing to continue being a catalyst. If all those features check out, the ritual can be performed with the host being part of the ritual.
- Demi-servants are able to fully act independentaly on their turn in combat. This in turn allows the Summoner's Quick Direct ability to activate their Noble Phantasm.
