Gnomes

Ability Score Increase
Size Small
Speed 25ft

The Forgotten Folk, gnomes have a tendancy to be overlooked and ignored by the world at large. The race first appeared during the Rise of the Netherese Empire, some theorise they were created from some Netherese Experiment involving Gems accounting from some rather strange notes found in Netherese Ruins. Either way they have legends involving Kobold Enslavement and being birthed from Gems, and afterwards not much in terms of major events. They tend to stay to themselves and master stealth, with most of their cultures having Hide and Seek being a common practice well until middle adolescence. They often have conflict with Kobolds and Goblins, sharing both of their territories, and a strong dislike of Giants and Giantkin.   Age: Maturity 40 to 350 years. Maximum age of 500 years.

Forest

Gnomes supposedly born from Emeralds, the Forest Gnomes find indoors and urban environments stifling. They are not technically a type of Fey, but they are very much present in the Feywild, where after their races creation they thrived more than any other non-fey in existance. There are even a few Archfey Forest Gnomes, where their natural gifts with illusion and enchantment shine. They from close-knit families and clans that live in Fey Crossing Areas, usually having strong relations with fey descendants.   Natural Illusionist: You know the Minor Illusion cantrip. Your spellcasting ability for this spell is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma.   Speak with Small Beasts: Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Small or smaller beasts. Forest gnomes love animals and often keep squirrels, badgers, rabbits, moles, woodpeckers, and other creatures as beloved pets.

Svirfneblin

Supposedly born from the Ruby, one of the few… nobler races of the Underdark. Well, relative to complete evil even an apathetic cunning is a light in the deep dark. They have a complex semi-Druidic religion that prays to the Elder Stone, a godlike earth elemental that teaches their spellcasters powerful rock-shaping magics. They are legendarily sneaky, to avoid the attention of the Drow and Illithid they often share territory with, but because of their avarice for gems they often find conflict with Duergar Tribes.   Speed: Borrow 30ft
Languages: Primordial   Rapport with Insects: Your caste’s years of working alongside the giant spiders and beetles that your people utilized in building and defending cities has left you with an innate affinity with the creatures. You can communicate simple ideas with insect-like beasts with an Intelligence of 3 or lower, such as spiders, beetles, wasps, scorpions, and centipedes. You can understand them in return, though this understanding is often limited to knowing the creature’s current or most recent state, such as “hungry,” “content,” or “in danger.” Delver drow often keep such creatures as pets, mounts, or beasts of burden.

Lantan

Born from Diamonds, the Gnomes of Lantan's Rest are considered masters of the clockwork and great steam inventions. They litter communities; human, Dwarven even Dragonborn and anywhere that can support a Skyport for their great airship trading routes that extends across the skies. While they look similar to Haflings, they are often much thinner, have more unusually colours of hair, and have the distinctly pointed ears usually associated with Fey Creatures. They also have the most impressive collection of Artificers in Faerun, with an entire army of artillerists to protect their Island Paradise.   Artificer’s Lore: Whenever you make an History check related to Artificer Technology you can add twice your proficiency bonus, instead of any proficiency bonus you normally apply.   Tinker: You have proficiency in Smithing, you may add your proficiency twice when using the Tinker Tools.
