Thelarr (1cp): Also known as a whistlecane, a simple and easy-to-make wind instrument cut from a reed. They are so simple, in fact, that skilled bards frequently make and give them away to children-to the parents’ delight or regret.
 
Tantan (2gp): A tambourine, a popular instrument with halflings and humans south of the Dalelands.
 
Flute (2gp): A well crafted wood or bone rod with a reed on one end and finger holes, often favoured by Ghostwise Halfling Clans.
 
Gloon (3gp): A curved animal horn with a mouthpiece on the end, resonates a mournful keen and used often on the battlefield.
 
Hand Drum (6gp): A double-headed skin drum fitted with handles along its side, popular with the Skald of Rashemi.
 
Tocken (10gp): A hanging set of carved oval bells, usually played with a pair of light wooden hammers (or open handed). They are most common in underground cultures, where the resonant tones can carry.
 
Birdpipes (12gp): Pan pipes or satyr pipes, also known as the shalm, these are sacred to Lliira and popular with silver elf and dark elf bards.
 
Wargong (20gp): A metal gong, traditionally made from a shield, particularly the shield of an enemy. Both goblins and dwarves make and play wargongs, their sound echoing through tunnels in the Underdark.
 
Shawm (25gp): A double-reed instrument similar to an oboe or a bassoon, popular with gnomes, who have developed some bellows-powered versions.
 
Yangqin (25gp): The dulcimer of the Eastern lands, mostly enjoying the unique scales of the Karaturian people.
 
Bagpipes (30gp): Loved by the Blackston Dwarves of the southern reaches, it’s keen sound cutting through the strong winds and lifting the hearts of their people.
 
Glaur (30gp): Short, curved horns like a cornucopia. Played with valves, glaur sound like trumpets. Favoured in mountainous regions of Rashemi and Icewind Dale.
 
Lyre (30gp): A small travel-sized harp with a wooden backing to protect the strings. A brilliant accompanying instrument for poets of the realm.
 
Viol (30gp): A small necked string instrument with a bow, favoured quite strongly by the nobility of Waterdeep and Neverwinter.
 
Faerilnian Flute (30gp): A flute of sophisticated make, found only in areas with skilled artisans, as in great cities or elven enclaves. Gives advantage for performances towards elvenkin.
 
Lute (35gp): A small necked string instrument, one of the most common masterwork instruments, brought far and wide by Tethyrian refugees.
 
Yarting (40gp): A southern instrument from Calimport and Halruaa, a precursor for the guitar numerous variations have spread across the continent.
 
Zulkoon (95gp): A complex pump organ that originated with the zulkirs of Thay, who use it in the casting of their spells. It is considered to have a dramatic, but sinister, sound and if used often in Thesk.
