If you ever thought a halfling might be trying too hard to be hospitable, stay clear of the deyva. Tricky gold things could keep you busy for several weeks, and you'd hardly see the sky change in the time they took from you. Intriguing, but dangerously so.
-Auritos, Alrenian Scholar
Small in stature, and strangely alluring, the golden skinned Deyva inhabit the vast meadows of Alreni. Their incredible cities are shared with the Aasimar, who leave the construction of the city to their Deyva friends (by the Deyva's own insistance). On the offworld below, they have been spotted, but are often described as strangely colored halfling children. Their bright skin and vibrant, primary colored hair tends to be rather eye-catching. They have quite the adventerous spirit, and are prone to wander early in life. Eventually, they do settle down and do their part to host guests, entertain, and form cities. Their golden to bronze skin colors, and vibrant primary colored hair make them quite a sight, as do their white pupils and bright strikingly colored eyes, which cast light in the dark.
Natural Hosts
The Deyva love nothing more than a guest to regale with stories, food, and shower with good times. They leave home early in life, seeking lasting friendships and tales of their own to enthrall their guests. Prefering the path of a Bard, most find themselves the center of attention through every fault of their own, and by both intention and design.
Those Deyva who seek another path often find themselves as fighters, championing causes at their whimsy, or chasing glory with whoever promises it. They cannot refuse a guest, and who would ever want to when such people are locked into paying attention to you.
No Deyva will ever be found without a tale to tell, food to eat, and good drink to share with any would-be companion.
Thriving on Attention
Outside, or at home, the Deyva do everything they can to improve their food and entertainment. To say that your time spent in their company was anything less than captivating would be an insult to their honor. More than that, the most unthinkable insult to a Deyva is to insinuate that they may, perhaps, not be glorious and perfect in the things they strive for.
While out adventuring, most Deyva seek to craft stories to tell with themselves at the center. Whether as a minstrel, adventerous bard, or otherwise, they strike out with fervor at any opportunity for a good story that doesn't end with their demise.
Even at home they compare trophies and tales from their days abroad. Bragging amongst each other over weapons and instruments, and even unusual friends are seen as trophies. Though, this doesn't make a friendship from a Deyva mean anything less than any other race.
Honored Companions
While any adventuring Deyva seeks out glory with the idea of being impressive, they are far from unwilling to share in that glory - so long as those shared with are not also Deyva. They still care deeply for their companions, and if pushed into choosing would not hesitate to lay their lives down for their friends.
At home with attention and adventure, the Deyva try to out-do each other and their friends in adventure and talent. They're very willing to take advice and learn, but almost immediately turn around and do the first impulsive thing they can find to try to improve, or just find a quirky way of accomplishing a craft or task.
Some Deyva choose a simpler life, jobs that keep them anchored in one place and tasks to further the growth of their impressively complex structures and cities. Even these Deyva will try to add an impressive twist to their day-to-day life. A farmer may find a way to grow his crops in a spiral pattern, or breed together strong plants that can grow into the side of buildings. An architect will likely add in archways and spirals, and helix shapes to make a large structure that winds and twists in ways that trick the mind.
Whatever the task, you can trust a Deyva to make it impressive, and overly-complicated.
Everlasting Renaissance
Due to the competitive nature of the Deyva, their culture is always shifting. While their traditions and values remain, the practices for them, representation of their work, and the style in which their world is crafted change dramatically in short amounts of time.
For many travelers, a Deyva city can be overwhelming. Moreso the second time around, as in less than a decade the entire city will have changed in both appearance, fashion, and even layout. It may be popular for the rich to live like the poor for a few years, or to wear large and impractical shoes made of metal and wood.
Whenever the visit may occur, an outsider can only expect anything to happen when entering the city gates, should they be considered stylish enough to keep around at the time.
Deyva Names
Deyva means "Perfected in Glory" in their own language, and only the names of the most honorable of each family are carried from generation to generation. Possibly the only consideration for someone else's glory comes with their death, when their name is passed on out of both respect for their tale, as well as hope for their own children to be as impressive. Deyva surnames are names from their zodiac system, rather than belonging to their family.

Upper Deyva
The Deyva of the upper classes are those who have been on the most impressive adventures, or come from such families. They are the best of hosts the race has to offer, and some of the most captivating members of the city. Many of them are also among those with the brightest colors, and some even have silver skin.
An Upper Deyva will go to any lengths for a good time, provided it be shared with a guest to recieve praise and attention from and a tale to tell after. This often results in Deyva with increased physical prowess, and impressive style while doing so.

Dark Deyva
Dark Deyva, often called Deyvill by their brightly skinned kin(though this is a derogatory term that means "Void of Glory"), have darker skin and hair than their brethren, and tend to come in dark bronze and dull grey colors rather than gold and bright colors. Likewise, their hair tends to be darker secondary colors.
They tend to keep more private unless speaking with another Dark Deyva. Over the centuries, these darker skinned among the Deyva grew, and tend to be more criminally inclined due to being ostracized from the more taken care of places in the city. The few that don't inhabit the old and out-dated buildings on the outskirts of the city choose instead to wander, rather than struggle.
