Appearance

Daoine Sidhe are tall, usually over 6 feet in height. They have fair skin and usually pale hair though a few have black or red hair. They tend to wear their hair long, and the men do not grow facial hair. They are graceful creatures of the forests, usually dressing in forest garb, but when in their communities they enjoy wearing extravagant and colorful garments and jewelry.

Description

The warriors among the Daoine Sidhe often paint blue designs on their flesh before a battle. They can be skilled in a variety of weapons but warriors will usually chose to fight with swords and spears. They are extremely long-lived but can die in battle or from a form of old age in which they grow weary and wish to pass into the otherworld. The Daoine Sidhe consider battles and duels a sort of sport that gains them honor and serve the gods. A Sidhe will rarely shy away from a fight and will endeavor to win glory and fame for themselves. They consider their gods to be always closeby and they have many religious practices and rites. These often involve animal sacrifices. To an outsider the Daoine Sidhe would appear to be a superstitious individual, ever doing something to win the favor of one of his gods. The Daoine Sidhe prefer not to deal with the world outside their forests and will usually treat attempts at communication as a challenge. Any quarrels they have among themselves will be paused if faced with an outside force within the borders of their lands.

Community

The Daoine Sidhe are ruled by Queen Maeve who makes all major decisions for her people. Below her are the various warlords with their battle parties, always competing among each other for glory and fame. While warlords may unite briefly for a common cause it would take something major, like an outside invasion, to unite all the battle parties into an army.   All bickering between warlords is put aside for religious rites and festivals.
“And while they were in the same place, there came a great mist about them and a darkness, so that they could not know what way they were going, and they heard a voice spoken from the darkness. 'It would be a great honor to spill blood on sacred earth."
