Secondary Buffer Storage
Neurological
The secondary buffer is an advanced and sophisticated storage unit installed into the brain in-between the short term and long term memory centers. It allows the user to store and access specific data as if it was a memory. They can store a face, a conversation, a text, an image or even an entire event. The storage has plenty of space to store large amounts of data, although memories take up a lot of space because of their complexity.   Because the storage buffer cannot be accessed from the outside via the traditional NeuroBus->Dataport interface, it is usually used by individuals with need of perfect recollections, law workers and for confidential information transfer. In order to access the buffer from the outside, it must be physically accessed via surgery, making it an incredibly well hidden and secure form of storage. In addition, the storage buffers are often heavily encrypted, further adding to the security.   That does not stop people from chasing down "buffers" and physically ripping the implants out of them in order to steal the data.
