With flickering word, three ability scores chosen by the magician of a target within 60" are immediately at risk.
The target makes three savings throws, one for each ability score targeted. The savings throw DC is based on the necromancers DC savings throw score, however the save made by the target is based off the targeted ability i.e. if strength is targeted, the target makes a DC strength savings throw.
On a failed savings throw the ability score is reduced by half proficiency bonus of the necromancer (minimum 2). The target may make a savings throw at the end of each of its turns to remove the ability score loss. If successful, the target cannot be affected by Gharn's Fade for 24 hours.
The necromancer can choose to cease targeting an individual as a free action and as an action target another individual.
