Combust

2-level Evocation

Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: Touch
Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material
Materials: A drop of oil and a piece of flint
Duration: Instantaneous
Attack/Save: Melee Spell Attack
Damage/Effect: Fire
You rub the oil against the flint and murmur an ancient word, touching your target. It immediately smolders and then bursts into bright flames. This spell makes a combustible object burst into flame, even if damp. If the target is a creature, you make a melee spell Attack against a creature you can reach. On a hit, the target takes 4d8 fire damage and must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save the creature bursts into flames and takes 1d8 fire damage at the beginning of their turn. At the end of each of a target's turns, it may repeat its saving throw, dousing the fire on a success.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd Level or higher, increase initial damage and burning damage by 1d8 for each level above second.
Available for: Sorcerer, Wizard
