Materials: A piece of the target’s body, a spider, a dream catcher, all of which the spell consumes.
Duration: Until cured
This spell curses a creature on the same plane of existence as you with a forgetting mind. The target must make a Charisma saving throw against your spellcasting DC. On a successful save, the target becomes aware that somebody attempted to curse them. On a failed save, the target becomes cursed and is unaware of this. Upon the completion of this curse’s triggering event, the target automatically advances to stage 1 of this curse.   Triggering event. The target attempts to sleep for the night, and is assaulted by violent nightmares.   Stage 1. The cursed creature is afflicted with night terrors. Whenever they are completing a long rest, they wake up screaming in distress from their dream.   Stage 2. The ability to complete a good night's sleep escapes the cursed creature. Whenever the cursed creature attempts to sleep, it must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the creature is tormented by nightmares created by the Nightmare Spider and does not gain the benefits of a rest.   Stage 3. The cursed creature’s paranoia becomes more severe. The cursed creature’s Constitution score becomes 6, unless it was already lower.   Culmination. Upon failing the final escalation check, the cursed creature's nightmares are the least of its worries. Whenever, the cursed creature goes to sleep they are taken to the Inverse, and tormented by the worst nightmares that reside there. They no longer gain the benefits of a rest, and gain 1 type of Indefinite Madness after each rest.
