Shadowed (Condition: Poison effect)

A creature may fall under this condition upon inhalation of the poisonous mist produced by some species of plants.

Affected creatures feel as if a fog has come over their mind. They lose the ability to clearly define friend from foe and may attack any creature that harms the source plant in order to defend it; even creatures familiar to them.

  • A Shadowed creature no longer perceives the source plant as a threat, and instead becomes hostile towards any creature that causes the plant harm. A creature may only be Shadowed by one plant at a time and tend to remain near the source plant for the duration. They may wander the area within range of the plant aimlessly, and with a dazed or blank expression. While under this effect, a creature is unable to sleep. (Magical abilities may be used to induce sleep, at disadvantage.)

  • An effected creature may re-roll it’s save (Con DC 12), once per turn while trusted creatures it recognizes are within range and in combat with the plant, or once every 12 hours otherwise.

  • If a creature successfully saves against or recovers from the Shadowed condition, it can not be effected by it again for 1d4+1 days.

Typically hostile creatures under this effect may remain passive towards other creatures unless the plant is disturbed. (Ex. A generally territorial creature might not act to defend its territory, but will attack creatures that cause harm to the plant. If the plant remains undisturbed, the creature may remain passive and dazed. )
