How to Search Your World

Being able to search through your world's content is very important, but our Search feature is much more than that! Here's how it works.

  1. Press Ctrl+K on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass icon in the sidebar to open the search screen.
    • The search panel is organized in tabs, each for a type of entity in your world (timelines, maps, etc). When you open the search panel, each tab will have the full list of entities in your world, so you can find them even if you don't remember their name.
  2. Type at least three letters of the article's title you're trying to find and wait for the results to appear.
  3. Clicking on a result will open it for editing.

Additional search result options

When you mouse over a search result, a row of buttons will appear. Here's what they do, from left to right:

  • Open in new tab: opens the article in edit mode in a new tab.
  • Copy URL: copies the view URL of the article into your clipboard; send it to someone else so they can view it.
  • Copy link: copies the article's internal link to your clipboard; paste it into another article to link it from there.
  • Copy block: copies the article's embed code. Paste it anywhere on World Anvil to create an article block to that article.
  • Edit: click this to edit the article.
  • View in world: opens the article on view mode.

Search results that are not articles (such as images and maps) will have fewer options. You can always mouse over the icons if you need a reminder about what they do.
