How to copy an article on World Anvil

If you want to, you can make an article copyable! You can do this via the Preferences tab in the full article edit interface of your article.

Once your article is copyable, the "Copy Article" button will appear at the bottom, above the comments section. If you, or anyone who can see your article, clicks this button, it will be copied into your active world!

What is copied when I use the Copy Article feature?

The copy article feature doesn’t copy everything. Here are the things that will be copied to your new article.

  • Title
  • Icon
  • Excerpt
  • Vignette
  • Sidebar Sections
  • Footer Sections
  • RPG Block
  • CSS Class
  • CSS Styles

  • I want to copy my own articles, but I don’t want other people to copy them

If you enable Copy Article and your article is PUBLIC (or you have given subsciber access to it), other people will be able to copy your article into their world.

You might WANT this - for example, it's great for sharing adventures and NPCs with others in the Community. In that case, make sure you draw attention to this in the Author's Comments!

But if you don't want others to copy your article, follow these steps to make sure no one else can.   1. First put your article private   2. Go to Preferences then select the “copy article” check box   3. Copy the article the number of times you want to   4. Disable the “copy article” check box   5. Put your article public again (if you want to)
