I Should Write all This Down

by Naelín (Elder Scrolls Online)

I find myself struck time and time again by the bits and pieces of thinking that led to the realisation that we have been thrown in the way of a bigger thing. Events are running fast, and we are no more the cheerful, informal companions making use of one another's abilities to run into some smelly cave or abandoned prison to help some poor man or lady in distress and smack down beasts in the way.
I regret not starting this journal earlier, the day that Khartasarr Dar'anir sent us his fateful letter, but I must make up for the lost time and do my best to recount what happened in the last weeks, and explain for the future how I came to be holding my dearest's body between my arms, to keep it fresh as if he were a chunk of pork.

My name is Naelín, I am a khajiit from South Elsweyr, bearing the curse and blessing of using the first person when talking, by virtue of living secluded and far away from my home, in the northern reaches of Bethnik, on a cold and stony home that could very well double as some creepy adventuring ruin some centuries from now, if not for its small size. Do not be surprised, though, if this one suddenly turns to the usual mode of speech of his people, for old habits die hard, and tend to show themselves when one is hastily scrawling notes down while avoiding enemies.

I recon that the day previous to Khartasarr sending the letter, he, a sturdy khajiit man of cathay breed like me, with colors and markings similar of a senche-tiger, finished a day of roaming the deserts of Alik'r, his homeland, with some high elf warrior and a bosmer lady and made camp with them for a little while, after which they left and went on their way, while he slept on the dunes.

On the next days, I was spending some idle time when I received from Mirage Noeira, a delightful argonian woman acquitance of both of us, a letter she previously received from him which were the last news she had, and urged me to help find him.
I write below a transcript from said letter, as a way to finishing this introduction.

Last Letter of Khartasarr

Hello, dear Miriana and Mirage, I am currently not far from Bergama, in the Alik'r desert. All is well for me, don't worry. I made myself a pretty little camp not far from a road and a wayshrine, but I am thinking of moving it, because a small goat always comes to eat my reserves. And I hear that there are more and more attacks by bandits in the regions, so I'm going to change my camp's placement tomorrow I think.

I also have to leave my mount in a stable, because the oppressive heat exhausts it too quickly, but the people who hold this stable are very nice, they let me take a white and brown horse, they assured me that this brave beast holds the stifling heat of the desert much better than my brave lion. On this I set out on the adventure that Jon and Jode watch over you two my brave friends, stay strong and secure!
