The guild was supposed to be a temporary stay. I believed my father would return for us and have enough bravery to save us from becoming emotionless slaves. Guess people can be disappointing, he was a coward. In the beginning, it was fine, obviously, I didn't like the fact that I was away from my sister, but I checked on her every once in a while. She looked to be doing better than I was. I lived in a small room with 4 bunk beds, 8 of us in total. Jason, Kila, Emryn, Xanth, Thea, Fero, Maylea, and I. Jason had been here all his life, his dad was one of the main members, it was his family right. Kila had been dropped off when she was really young, this is the only life she knew. Emryn joined on her own will, I know "why would anyone ever wanna be here?", but her father had been very abusive and she wanted to learn to fight back. Xanth and Fero were best friends, Xanth was the nicer one (that's being generous though). Both of them wanted to become the leaders, they were power-hungry, emotionless, killers. Perfect for the guild, terrible for the world. Thea, I honestly don't know what she was doing here, she was quiet and the kindest person you could ever imagine. I felt the most comfortable with her, she was the only one whom I had told about my past. Then there was Maylea, she terrified me. She was the best in the class, she was ruthless with her training partners and worse on duel partners. The adults here were the worst, every one of them had either fake or no emotions. Training when I was younger was pretty simple, we started with emotional training. As much as I hated the idea of faking everything, it was simple enough to get through. The first year had hope for returning to my old life, I did everything perfectly the way they wanted me to. When the idea that this nightmare will be over keeps you going, your willingness to do whatever it takes heightens. The second-year was worse, actual physical training had started. I gotta be honest, I wasn't very strong. I was put in a group with mostly girls to work on strength training. It was a bit embarrassing but after a few months, I joined the normal agility training. We started with agility courses, when you could complete it in a minute you went to the next one. Each got harder and harder. Through mountain climbing, speed swimming, sprints, basically everything that helped train our bodies to become versatile. This went on until I was 14. On your 15th birthday, each of us gets to choose a weapon we were to excel in. Most went for daggers, sword, or crossbows. By this time I had given up on hoping for my father to come to save me. I hated that man, he left us here and didn't even bother to come back. His rare gifts were just taunts in my face. The gifts showed how he was only keeping us around for his benefit. He replaced our relationship with meaningless items. The only thing that I had kept from his gifts was a ring. It was a gift from mom to him, he gave it to me while we were still happy. In a way to represent my hopelessness, I chose the scythe. As I started to excel over the next few years people started to look towards me with fear. They feared the one that had hope and lost it. Because someone who lost hope was much more unstable than someone who was born ruthless. Around this time I had actually become closer with Maylea. I was her partner more than once, we helped each other get better. Friendship turned towards something more. Once training was done we were sent out on missions. My first one was happened to be with Maylea. We were sent out to get rid of hunters who had been bothering the high-class locals' animals in Pachàmang. We had to camp out in the canyon for a week until we could gauge insight on the hunters. They mostly targeted magical creatures, whose parts they could sell on the black market. When it came down to it one night, they had been hunting a Griffin who was just free-roaming. There were 5 half-orcs, we managed to kill all but one, it didn't matter though because what could they do all alone. The griffin needed a lot of supervision to make sure she got better so we ended up staying for another week. I bonded with her and she stayed with me, her name is River. She took a liking to Maylea also and in a way she was our own fur child. About a month later I was sent out on a solo mission to kill the leader of a different assassins guild. I went there to join and gain the trust of the group to get close enough to do it. But Maylea visited me once, I was caught after she left. They kept me in a cellar for 2 months with barely any food. The torture wasn't too bad until it was done on me. (I have a few scars all over remaining from this.) After the 1st month of getting nothing from me, they started bringing in innocent travelers. I didn't crack but managed to escape with the help of Holden. He was a teifling like me and around the same age. He helped me escape, but he didn't manage to, last I know of him he was there in the cell that I had been in. I stayed away just until I looked better. Upon my return, I was questioned to make sure the mission was completed. I lied and luckily I got away with it. I went back to training and acted as if everything was normal. on my 17th birthday, I was sent out with Maylea and Fero, Fero was creepily obsessed with Maylea but he hadn't done anything rash. We were sent out to eliminate a mod boss, Arthur Lavenport, called The Untouchable who was doing sex trafficking. During the trip to the town we had to camp out one night and each of us had separate tents, and during the middle of the night, I heard screams and saw Fero in Maylea’s tent hugging aggressively telling her to calm down and just let him love her. I dragged him out and I more or less beat the living crap out of him. Maylea and I ran from there leaving him alone, after completing the mission we were sad to see him back at the guild gloating about killing the mob boss. Since then I protected Maylea very closely if we ever went on a mission with Fero again. But we had made a mistake, Arthur's wife Everly had lost everything from his death. Fero had made moves on Maylea but never succeded. I kept him away and made sure he never had the chance to do anything more. Right before my 18th birthday, I was to go on another mission alone. I was to kidnap a woman’s son, the woman was believed to be an evil sorcerer and the person who hired me was trying to get her to do some dark magic for them and needed ransom. The kid was like 8 and when I got him we actually got pretty close since he basically wasn’t scared of anything. I ended up not giving the kid to the man who hired me and instead killed him, and returned the kid to the mom. I learned their names were Elora and Wyatt Samson. They were both Genasi, Elora an air, and Wyatt a fire. I spent a couple of days with them learning bits of magic but not a lot that I could actually do, it is from her that I could understand what might be my origin of magic. Even though I didn’t really figure out how I have it she helped with telling me a bit about sorcerers and who I should watch out for. Returning from the mission it went back to normal. Until the leader messed up, Rory had killed him and we decided to leave together and make a guild of our own. Once that was established I would get anyone from the old guild who didn't want to be there and bring them to us to make a family of our own.
