Journey into the White: A work of fiction by Varn the Bard

by Sarva Nar

Premise: A group of heroes are transported to strange fantastical place by a cursed ring and must overcome many trials to return home. They all themselves with whimsical characters (like a talking bear), fight nightmarish creatures, and bargain with ancient beings.
>>Might consider turning this book into a children's fable instead.
>>Be sure to put emphasis on the strange environment (cold, snow, weird looking trees).
>>Cram as much lore about Gloomfang as possible to improve readership in Akek (not that they read!)

"...Terrified by the monstrous owl, Bear turned in fear and fled back into the snowstorm, quickly disappearing from sight. 'We must go after him!' shouted Omar, the craven rogue secretly hoping for an excuse to avoid entering the cave. 'There's no time' retorted Umtree, 'We must continue without the coward.' As group began to argue, and enigmatic smile graced Sanarva's face, as subtlety pocketed the bit of fur she managed to pull from Bear as he had ran past her..."

"...The mask fell away, revealing the draconic features of the infamous Darktooth. Just as the rest of heroes resigned themselves to battle, an opportunistic gleam shone in Umtree's eyes as the mage quickly threw himself to the floor and debased himself in front of the great dragon. ' Mighty Darktooth, your legend is known to us back on our world. Please, let us serve you rather then fight you. We ask only for your favor and freedom from this freezing cold. Accept us as your servants, or at least except me, I'll do *anything* you desire.' Darktooth was surprised by such sudden subservice, having lacked subjects to rule over for centuries. He paused and grew contemplative. 'Perhaps there is something you can do for me' he intoned after a moment. 'In your world, there is a statue that I want you to find...'..."
