Zloton,
You have always been a materialistic soul, so I will start by listing our haul.
We came out of that Yellow tower with a vial of clear liquid and another of red liquid that I am told are a potion of flying and a potion of healing. We also found a damaged Drift globe and on the body of the priestess, a scroll tube that had been burned. It contained the same type of parchment as the flying snake paper
Pete found a large wooden box and fiddled with it awhile. It must have been incredibly trapped because there was some sort of explosion. Thankfully, Pete was fine and we got the treasure!
Which was the box itself.
There were chilled stones in the box. Actually, they were a part of the box. It was a box that emanated cold. I can store meat and ingredients in it!
Eventually, the Watch showed up, led by Sargent Sagget. They inspected the circle while Pete claimed we were saving the city from cats. Thankfully, Shan Chien vouched for usand everyone else gave more reliable information.
Nettie sang to the rats that healed her because…well, of course she did.
I'll write later. Our cab is stopping.
…
Nettie, Flynn, and Pete went to Grinda to book an appointment with her apparatus so to speak. Nettie told me that Grinda liked the food, which is nice. She also says she tried to stay quiet while Flynn claimed they were doing our fish survey. Grinda apparently did not look fooled. Pete gravely told me he should have talked instead.
Ristrien and I went to the guild. Algeroon and Carina don't know about the potato we found. Ristrien tried researching in the library to no avail. I tried to help, but I got distracted by a cookbook.
Do you know how the infamous Heroes’ Feast spell turns a gem encrusted bowl into a mythical feast? It’s so fascinating! But you would just skim through the explanation anyway, so I won't include it.
In any case, I was not productive in the traditional sense.
Ristrien got more done. She sent a message to more knowledgeable contacts and they got some potions of water breathing. They were containers of cloudy green fluid and jelly fish bubbles. They smelled pretty brimy. I look forward to tasting them.
…
I just gave out samples, while Nettie made puppets and Pete scoped out our competition down the street. It reminded me of the old days, back when my sister and I would market the old restaurant. I wished we could do that all day, but we have to go to be responsible and sneak into a faire.
…
Grinda opened the garage, warned us to avoid Umberlee's cache. Apparently monsters linger there. Her apparatus has ten levers! It reminded me of that overcomplicated kitchen your family used to have. Too busy. Nothing intuitive.
Nettie’s driving since she’s the most giddy to use it. I’m currently sitting beside her in the apparatus itself, but Pete is swimming outside and Flynn and Ristrien hold on to the top of it.
There’s a giant eye! It’s a <several paragraphs are crossed out>
I see the ship! There’s this brass or bronze manta ray vehicle attached to its underbelly. It was upside down and massive compared to what we’re riding it, but it must navigate the depth in a similar manner. We hear sailors chatting on top deck, so naturally, Grisby and the Baron are going to scout out ahead.
We might need climbing rope to reach the deck of the ship ourselves. If we survive, I’ll write later.
Okay, the Baron and Grisby snuck past 3 sailors. I think the baron scouted the attached apparatus, but it is
There were gnomish made sentries in the hull? Or there were actually gnomes? sometimes it's hard to decode Pete's commentary.
There were off duty sailors about the ship and then there was a second gnome?
They passed a training area with ropes and dummies with daggers. They also found two cabins of interest: one had musical instruments, the other had a jade chessboard one. Both had silken sheets, purple and blue sheets respectively. Lavender smell wafting through. Our guess is these are the rooms of the women draped over Zord when we met him.
They found a hatch in the room with the chessboard, but when Grisby entered, a disembodied voice cried, "By Lolth's teeth, mind your manners."
They saw a mechanical level. Norbert was there, along with clockwork spiders, crabs, and a wooden golden dragon.
We need to ascertain more.
…
Oh my, Zloton. I have a talent for attracting dangerous eyes, don't I?
So with Grisby distracting two guards and Pete knocking over a barrel, pretending to be a drunk sailor, we finally entered the Captain’s cabin.
The Captain of Eyecatcher is asleep in his bed and Nettie silenced the cabin so we wouldn’t wake him up. She also detected magic to realize the whole ship was covered in illusion magic..
There was a message on the desk, addressed to *us.*
I won't repeat it here. It wasn't for your eyes, but suffice to say, we are dealing in matters far far above us.
It was you who taught me to be used to the feeling that there were always eyes on me. A few more sets should be no different.
We used the old Cat chasing rat distraction to escape, but not before leaving a chocolate chip cookie for the captain of course.
…
So we talked to people who know way more about politics than little ignorant me and apparently, Jarlaxle Barber, the drow who signed the letter, runs Bregan D'aerthe, a drow mercenary band. We also have it on good authority that Jarlaxle is also surreptitiously the leader of Luskan, you know, where the nimblewrights come from.
The plot thickens like soup, I tell you.
In other news, the parade was excellent apparently. Too bad none of us saw it! It's fine. I'll ask Jenks for a rundown when I pop into the kitchen.
