Divination Through Dreams

by Dubin of Clan Eucra

The hillfolk were very cautious of the usage of magic, fearing that openly using it would attract the attention of the infernals, particularly with magic meant to touch the outside world. In such cases, they had a special ritual taught to them generations ago by a dokkalfar visitor that allows the volunteer to observe the outside world through the lens of dream without the person becoming aware. This is the ritual that Dubin volunteered to be subjected to in order to find the girl from his clan that had gotten lost. Through his dreams he would be able to see elements of her surroundings or recent memories reflected through dream. Beings that did not dream would not typically show up in these dream reflections, however.

The ritual works best when the subject is a child (according to the dokkalfar that taught it to the clan), but more pragmatically, the ritual results in the subject being tired and bed-ridden for a day or so afterwards, so having a young child volunteer impacts the clan's productivity the least.
