We had defeated the undead evil that Roan's corpse had become and discovered a secret passage beneath his (false?) sarcophagus...
Taking my first few steps down the hewn rock ladder, I knew we were onto something. This place was old, untraveled, steeped in secrets; ██████ was right to send me here. The cavern below reminded me of home...
The cavern below reminded me of home; the stillness of the water, thickness of the air. It was like something you would find yourself wandering into if you strayed too far from the mountain pass on patrol. One minute walking in step, then a feeling, a distraction, a thought that there might be something just off the path. Between moments, the rest of the guard are gone, but you are pressing on nonetheless, driven by a sense of adventure -- maybe this path holds my destiny, fortune, or death. There's only one way to find out.
The temple was a gem deep in the mountain. It's importance was obvious and unignorable. It was so clearly forbidden that every bone in my body ached to explore it. Looking inside, its desecration was also unignorable. Its dark obsidian structure and carved raven's heads said this was of the Raven Queen, who wasn't unknown back home, but we were followers of Erathis through and through. To see something of this magnitude was a treat. And it seemed fitting that this tomb of heroes would be memorialised under her sign. To see that twisted by some unknown evil was powerful unsettling. Stepping inside some things became clear.
Dark powers threaten this world. They are calling their agents to action, or creating them by tainting powers that be. If my father is here, there's no doubt he's wrapped up in this, pulled into this mystery to play
what role?
There are more temples, or other places of note ... marked on the map inside the temple. Are they corrupted? Will they be soon? Who defends them?
We need to learn more. There is no going back now.
██████ will give me the strength I need to do this.
