After a short rest to heal up we continued to explore. Investigating the room we were in did not turn up anything of interest. We continued out of the room to the east, following it for some 1000 feet, at least. We eventually came to a huge wall with a crack in it. Borrin said he felt this was the city of Saggorak, the city of Undead. We very soon heard sounds from ahead. Entering the area we saw 2 gigantic creatures with 4 arms & gigantic jaws where their heads should be at one end of the room. At the other end of the room we saw a giant bat-like creature. We fairly quickly dropped the giants, Gugs as identified by Blueleaf The bat creature was far tougher and harder to defeat with it casting darkness that our spells could not cut through. We eventually managed to drive it off through some sort of magical portal it created. Shizu was able to identify it as a Deculi & tell us it had escaped into some sort of extradimensional space where it could stay indefinitely. After some binding of wounds and brief rest we continued on.
Entering the hallway beyond we found several closed doors off of it. We chose to go through a set of double doors. Inside we found several large blister shaped stone protrusions on the walls. From the one in the NE corner we heard whimpering sobs. Ilonna climbed up to look through the small window in the side of it. Inside she saw an emaciated man dressed in rags. Daisyleaf flew up & used our Bag of Holding to get the man out. Once released he told us there were 3 Gugs, one of which used magic to open and close the stone prisons. Once we started talking to him, Borrin was able to tell this man was an undead creature, called a Ghast. He did not remember who he was, but he did speak of his king. A Dragon named Veshumirix. He then went to eat the Gugs we had left behind. Borrin felt strongly that we should kill this creature. Graig went along with this. Just before Borrin attacked, the Ghast told us we should "Go hide behind the walls of Kovlar with the rest of the living". Borrin cast a spell to blast the Ghast to ash. Before we moved on we decided to check on the rest of the stone cell room. Daisyleaf used his ability to fly and his small form to squeeze through the small windows to search the rooms. He found a Talisman, but nothing else before we moved on.
Crossing the hallway we entered a room where we immediately heard a voice speak in Dwarven, asking for the room to be sanctified. Borrin agreed to do this and set to the task! As he was walking the perimeter a stone creature melded out of the wall, reaching out towards Borrin. Borrin quickly ran away from it, leaving Graig to bear the brunt of it's attacks. It quickly started chewing on Graig. Daisyleaf was able to identify this as a Stone Golem. Shizu disagreed, saying this was a Stone Giant! Blueleaf was able to free Graig with a spell. Unfortunately, it quickly bit down on Graig again & then turn on Ilonna, biting her as well. Borrin cast a Blade Barrier on the creature, affecting it. This seemed off if it was indeed a Stone Golem, but it did seem resistant to the non-Adamantine weapons. After some time it melded back into the stone. Shortly afterward maws started popping out of the ground, attacking various people. After a bit more fighting the creature retreated into the stone and did not come back. We decided it would be a good idea to take time to have a full rest now.
