Investigation Begins

Overturned carts and a magic hat; basic medical supplies acquired. I thank whoever's ill-luck allowed me to replenish my medicine bundle without a visit to town. The first leg of our investigation has begun. Unsurprisingly we stumbled into a mild calamity but fortunately the battle following left no lasting effect...and no survivors. If the dragon had not killed him I would have had to. I knew venturing in a group could prove dangerous for, somehow, even in battle, I am still able to perform magic. The energy in my amulet fades as does my certainty. The Ritual of Dissonance was performed perfectly. I felt the separation. It couldn't have failed... It didn't. I know that. But still....if I am no longer vassal under his shadowed gaze, from where do I draw my power?
