Betrayed!
It has been awhile since I last sat down with someone else at least it seems that way. Time is funny like that , I have been traveling so long now from that wretched place where the betrayal took place. I still cannot believe all five of those stout accomplished men of combat are gone. Not without taking more of them with them though hah, it was the act of a coward to ask us to be the vanguard then betray us from behind in a pincer move. Don't worry brothers in arms I will have my revenge for all of you. This greenhorn you have taken in and started to show the ropes to we might not have traveled long but we shared shed blood together on the battlefield. I awoke on that field of chaos to some serious wounds barely able to move I looked around at what remained mostly carrien fodder at this point. It was then that the instincts to survive that was drilled into me began to kick in. The mantra we are clan bloodsworn we will do the impossible to make it to the end, the horror must be stopped! Like a beating drum it droned on in my head as i went about patching myself up and making a safe place to hunker down till fully healed.
The will to live.
I spent the next days.... maybe longer time is fussy. Using the training we learned in the outlands I was able to keep myself saited. I started moving back to where I think town was. Who would have thunk all those harsh lessons about geography and terrain mapping and other useful things from old man Fen would come in handy. After what seemed like forever and many nightmares later had passed, I came across some tombs. Which had a great source of water so I started making my way inside one. I figured if nothing else I could have a conversation with a bunch of boneheads. Keeping my weapons handy and my lamp light low. I came upon a room filled with other travelers in these land. After a bit of conversation and gauging them they looked to be in need of some help, they also seemed to have camped here because its a source of water. A strong will to live I like that, so I headed out to see what small game I could get in a short notice to lend a little aid.
The next day
After some sleep had passed we headed out to explore this tomb. I figured a group is better then roving the wilds by myself. I took up the rear to watch our backs and laid trip alarms along the way. We begun to head deeper inside. Eventually coming to a room with a mosaic. The mosaic told a story that seemed to repeat itself. As my eyes wandered upwards following the story I saw them. The horrid visions from my dreams before my eyes. Nightmarish creatures brought to life on a wall in a tomb. How can this be it is a dream but yet they are on this wall. Now I know without a doubt the stories of a few in our clan having dreams that lead them to leave the clan to seek out the dreams are true. Here I thought I was just being rebellious breaking tradition and leaving. After a brief conversation with the group. We push onward.
Soil-Mates
The last area we came to was a room with a collapsed area in it. The area itself seemed to be no different then what we have seen so far minus the dirt everywhere. Odd because we haven't seen dirt yet in this tomb. the moment most of us realized it Moose has wandered over to the collapsed area and before we could say anything a giant worm had popped out and pinned him to the ground. Just at that moment without thinking the druid tried casting a spell but being taken back by the shock of what just happened fizzled out and prepared something as a backup. Backup plans eh ... I think this one and I are going to get along well. I charged in with my halberd trying to catch its attention but alas was not able to due to the distance i had to cover my attacked bounced off a plate. The halfling jumped in between the worm and the barbarian, againsomone willing to risk it all for a comrade in arms. This group is starting to grow on me. Just as the smirk started to appear the other paladin came rushing in and landed a great hit with the glave they were wielding. Getting the attention of the worm. The barbarian not to be taken lightly got up and proceed to swing the great ax they bore at the worm. Not going to take it lying down I see I chuckled to myself in admiration, but quickly regained focus as the sound bellowing from the worm alarmed me. Spewing forth was acid that cut the room in half wounded the barbarian and the monk. The monk fell to the ground as from behind we could hear chants as a bolt of energy came flying down the hall toward the worm. it bore a hole deeping inside it as a magical arrow came flying towards it causing the light in the worms eyes to go dark and it fell to the ground. After the fight had ended i quickly used some of my power to aid the monk. Shortly after the druid and myself begin to harvest the worm. I eventually pulled it all the way out to get the total length. As the others talk amongst themselves I start to think they have the will to fight for each other and to claw onto life. This group might be just what I need to complete my quest. We proceed to head back to the room where I met them collecting my tripwires and resetting them in the hall leading to our room. I made dinner in the safest place in the room I could, as we hunkered down to get a nice long rest in. I just pray the nightmares stay away.
