I doubt Athens will allow me back into the city. We killed a two guards while we were trying to steal a cart for Socrates. Plato, Socrates underling or student or whatever, knows that it was us. He hasn’t told anyone but this isn’t ideal. We left once we received the letter from Plato, abandoning our previous commitment to Meletus, an Athenian lawyer. Currently I am on a ship to Persia on mission from Parthene in service of the high priest Alcibiades. My companions for this journey, Chaddicus, Api, an Iron Golem named Archon, and an Astronomer who’s name I can’t remember. The gold from this mission, 8600 split between us and an additional 1000 per person, is a good starting point for repaying my debts but it wont be for much if it’s all in blood.
Well, my worries aside Chaddicus is as Spartan as he comes. Buys awful drinks and gives them to beauties, flattering but questionable. He’s a muscle head. Strong and honorable but questionable intelligence. I shouldn’t be one to say that though.
Api, fellow Egyptian, is also a strong man. He looks quite ferocious now when he wears the bear we killed earlier. He’s nice enough. A little bit of anger but that’s nothing. Tried to reignite the flames with his own magic and almost pulled it off. As for the Golem and the Astronomer, I don’t have much of an opinion on them. Archon is pretty handy with tools and the Astronomer with magic. Useful but I don’t understand them.
Our employer is a small 4’10” man with a large white beard. He’s got some magical aura to him. A cloak to hide his deathly nature. Parthene claims 78, but his age is far beyond that. Well, as long as we get paid, what he does, and his grude with Alcibiades, is of no concern to me. All we have to do is light the fires in Persia, warm the world enough for Athens’ flame to reignite, and return to light the fire of Hephaestus. The job looks like it will be much harder under it’s fair cloak.
A killer whale with an ancient Atlantis rune on it attacked the ship, attempting to sink it earlier today. We repelled it successfully and carved the rune off it. This ancient Atlantean rune enslaved the animals it was on, forcing them to kill everything it saw. Worryingly however, this rune, from a civilization lost centuries ago, was fresh, a few days at most. It seems that someone doesn’t want us to light the fires. As if my own guilt wasn’t enough. Now there’s someone out to get us. Why can’t things ever be simple?
