First Week in Havenport

by Berry of Goodcheer

As required, I have given 9 gold pieces worth of food to the patrons of the Sand Bar, and purchased scale armor of 50 gold pieces worth from a local smith, exceeding the amount for crafters and charity I am obligated to give, which was 21 pieces this week. I have discovered no injustices that require my interference in my time here, and I have not been given orders to carry out my duties. I have been performing in local taverns, and have proven successful in bringing happiness to their patrons.

I'm settled in Havenport, after that horribly long boat ride! The main inn for adventurers is called the Sand Bar, and I've decided that it will be my home for now. I've already met so many people, especially in the Sand Bar. There's Hugh, the firbolg who's disguising himself as a human. Lady Emerald Jade-leaf, who's a sword-mage like me, and here to explore the new world! She also has a cat named Snowball. There's Hammerhoof, the minotaur who's very sweet. Sermenti is a sad jester who plays the lute. Ninde, Lancelot, Telvar, Hal and his brother, Graves and Cliff (they don't like each other), Tharvol, Zeke, and Raquanda too, but I don't know as much about them yet. Steve is the barkeeper there, and also very nice. I think that's everyone I've met so far...

Anyways, I've got a little room in the Sand Bar now. Did I mention it's an old boat that ran aground and was turned into an inn?! It's not very big, but I can roll out my bedroll and blanket on a real mattress! It's not just hay now! There's a small dresser I've been putting my clothing in, and little desk and chair that I can eat and write at. They even have pillows! I can hear the waves lapping at the boat at night, it puts me to sleep nicely. I can smell a bit of the seawater down here, but it's not overwhelmingly salty like up on deck can be.

I've been spending most of this week wandering through the city and trying to get used to it. I might get lost if I'm not careful! But my first night in the Sand Bar Serventi and I both performed to cheer up the crowd. He was good, but I don't know what happened, but I've never played that well in my life!! I felt so happy making everyone that happy, and the tips I earned went into feeding the patrons. Steve was very grateful.

I tried searching the fancier bars for anything of note, but nothing has drawn my eye.

Today, Graves had me try a fruit called a lemon. It was so sour when I took a bite, it hurt my teeth! But it also turned really sweet, and it smelled so sweet too. I bet it'll taste better once I can try it with sugar and such. I must have made such a face at the tartness, a lot of people laughed at it. Oh well, it amused them, and I got to try a new flavor!

That's as much as I remember for this week.
