Log#0002: Settling in

by Olwyn Stone

The night was young, the festive at its prime and when we said the night was only gonna get strange, we weren't kidding ourselves. It only turned out more beautiful. I got flowers for the ladies(I really hope they did get the meaning behind those flowers) and food for the boys(Wacos are such a delight in this weather). As said, we did what any sane person would do in a Carnevale/festival, we made our way towards the bookstore. On our way, we did find this armor shop that looked closed and a strange automaton-like being guarding the inside of it. We also ran into the only people we were told to avoid at all costs. The Royalty here, were quite welcoming towards strangers, especially towards our little wizard friend Eoin, apparently, dwarves are a rare sight in this world. But guess what! my man scored a date with the princess(at least I think he did).
Turns out the stranger we met asking for directions to the bookstore was the purveyor of the store. Her name was Dorris, a delightful lady, who was warmly welcoming and accommodating to our needs. We really went to town buying the books. Everything from magic to espionage. The thing we didn't realize, books cost a whole damn lot! But again Dorris, ah bless her soul, traded us the books for some money and work. The night was almost coming to an end, the purple moon had set and while making our way back, I was hoping to find fireworks but was gifted with a scene much more thrilling and beautiful than that. We saw dragons, majestic beings that swooped down in this great aerial art that not only looked splendid but also made the entire atmosphere so much cooler. The sun rising was our cue to get back to the inn. Thing to note, always hide your blacklisted and redlisted books, for a guard turned up at our door asking for the very same. It's the day of the tour! We decided we needed a base of operations and so we made our way towards Marie's Real Estate Services. On our way, we did pass by the bookstore only to find it to be wiped clean and the shop closed. This and the little encounter with the guards in the morning has gotten me a little worried about Dorris. I really hope she's fine. On reaching the place, there's one thing I realized. I don't like the current owner of the business, Mr. Donovan. A man who doesn't negotiate with his customers. WHO DOES THAT?! Anyway, we found ourselves a space close to the Queen's Quarters that everyone loves and that's all that matters to me. We also found we have quite interesting and amusing neighbors. We fixed our house, and are still trying to settle in but it looks good. A place to call ours in this strange world. We'll find a name for it. The tour is in a couple of hours and we can't wait for it.

Side Note: I need to find some fancy-looking clothes for Eoin and the rest of us, can't let the man looking like he's going out for war with his Warhammer tucked to his side. After all, it's a date, and he needs to look the fanciest of us all.
