The group went to speak to Yelden. We smoked some pipeweed (except for Arthur) and had a good time playing with his dog, Percy. He told us the goblin stones are religious objects that the goblins still worship. He also said that there are two ways to contact the fiora (the deer women). One way is to make a sacrifice of something of our essence in the woods to nature and they may come to claim the sacrifice since they are of nature. The other way would be to wander into the southern woods, but it might be dangerous.
The Buddies then went to the Patched Flask to witness Arthur’s religious ceremony on Sunday. Rast came down from Megan’s room where he spent the night. Arthur began the ceremony well and had many of the people’s attention until Megan’s husband arrived and started making a scene in the kitchen. Trying to quiet the angry cuckold, Oak went into the kitchen to try to get him outside. The man, instead, hit Oak with a flaming log from the fire, showering coals on the kitchen floor. Oak then, feeling the cold in his soul well up, shot a ray of frost at the husband, hitting him in the chest. Grease on the floor ignited and began a fire in the kitchen as Danor came to help in the kitchen. Arthur tried to keep the group’s attention, but the fighting and subsequent smoke/fire led to panic among the people. Rast tried to calm the masses with free drinks “courtesy of the Boval Buddies”. The husband tried to leave, and Oak knocked him unconscious as Danor tossed water on the fire, causing it to spread out of control.
Danor then helped Megan out of the building and Arthur helped direct the masses out the door as Oak used magic to try to keep the fire under control then ran out the kitchen door. Arthur noticed a young boy hiding under a pew and tried to save him as the flames spread through the main room. A beam fell from the ceiling, hitting the boy in the head as Arthur carried him out of the burning building. Meanwhile, Rast went upstairs and managed to throw many people’s belongings out the window before jumping out and saving himself.
Arthur then healed the injured child and convinced many of the crowd that his god was not at fault for the fire, but he did save the child. He blamed the fire on the god of shadows (which inexplicably angered Oak). Oak then talked to Megan, who blamed everything on the Buddies and fawned over her injured husband. Danor raised a little money and gave it to Megan, offering his farm as a place for her and her husband to stay. She declined.
Arthur lost most of his possessions in the fire and now has no armor, weapons, or normal clothes. We all stayed in Danor’s barn for the night and plan to go to Lord Boval’s castle first thing the next morning to talk to him and try to keep the situation with the burning bar from getting out of hand.
There will be three cases in front of Lord Boval: the case for Danor to be released from his responsibilities on the farm; The case for us to not be punished for the fire; and the case to convince Lord Boval of the danger from the goblins.
