New Pals for Setting Sail

by Torrielle Highwave

After getting out of the ocean and dismissing my shark friend, I found Stilga and Kalibek awkwardly staring at two new people. One was a massive lizard guy! He was pretty cool looking. The scars look a little painful but I hope they aren't. He was pretty nice. Oh his name is Daelg. The other one, the woman Brea, she seems like a party. She was very intoxicated the entire time. Apparently she's been drinking since she was 4. That sounds not so good to me, but who knows? Maybe humans are different from Aasimars?

They both wanted to join the crew. I said it should be okay after we check with Lunadris and Karesh, the whole conversation was a lot of people talking over each other. They say they have crew experience and only one bad reference between them. That's not bad for people looking to rip off the bureaucracy!

Eventually, we went to the bar and got them checked in with Karesh. Then we went back to the beach and went bowling. That was interesting. I don't really see the appeal of playing the game over and over though, so I build a little sand castle. I finally got to fix Stilga's hair, it doesn't look like she got drag upside down along the sea floor any more. No one else wanted braids. Bummer.

These people are really touchy for people who don't like to be touched. The longer I'm with them, the more I wonder if they had any love in their childhoods. I know stilga did, for a little while. Kalibek, probably not on account of the whole being enslaved thing. Brea said she was born on a ship and seems reliant on labeling us with family titles. She called me a mom and kalibek a dad. A little strange. They also seemed confused about sandcastle making. Why wouldn't you want to make cool things with the earth? It's fun. Kalibek called my life before simple. I argued it wasn't. I don't think our lives at Home are simple. I think they are peaceful and I'm gathering that most people who have set out on the sea did not have peaceful lives. LIKE A LITERAL 12 year old, Jack, works on our ship. It's all very strange.

Even stranger and a little scary - a ship from the continent showed up in the bay. From the demonic country. That can't be good. Why does trouble always seem to find us?
