The book is gone!
 
Daron and the archbishop came to the dock in the morning and ordered Des and Vex to accompany them back to the temple. I don't know all that happened, but they returned this afternoon and informed us that the book has been destroyed. Not permanently, of course, but it won't be reappearing in the world any time within our lives, not even Lorkai's. It's so good to hear that it's gone for good and can no longer threaten us.
 
Des doesn't seem that happy, though. He says he's been ordered back to Silverdusk to await a decision by the archbishop and the council. I can't imagine it's anything bad, but he said Daron was acting very terse, and the archbishop wasn't exactly friendly throughout the whole thing. They're allowing him time to go to Passage and meet with Baron d'Orien first, but then he's to return to Silverdusk and remain there until further notice. I admit that doesn't sound positive, but they couldn't possibly be thinking of punishing him! Could they? I tried to ask Daron about it, but his lips were sealed. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
 
Now that that's over, Karn and Tac have decided to sail the ship back to Aruldusk before heading to the keep while the rest of us head to Passage on the lightning rail. The baron has arranged a private, non-stop train for us, but it will still be a long ride all the way from Flamekeep. Still faster than walking though. And these private trains are nice. It will be good to have some time with Des and Vex again now that we're all no longer under the book's influence.
