Sessoin 5: into a dragon's hord

by Tarr

I rarely interrupt my own work to go adventuring these days. And if I do then it is mostly to scout resource locations or to acquire new materials. but when I heard that the carpenter and the barbarian lass where off to scout an abandoned city I could narly help myself from busting at the seams with excitement.

So off we went to the far side of the kobolds den and found our bridge surrounded in a thick and magical fog. Elf magic if i've ever seen it, but the thing about the turn around fog is that it is best used on large spaces and not a simple bridge. with the simplest trick in the book, namely squares of rope, we were across in a jiffy. we came to a large gate with purple shinning from within but sense the thing seemed to not budge in the slightest we decided to climb around and over it.

once in the city I could bearly breathe such was the craftsmanship. gems set into every step and stone cut into grand structures high as a dwarf could see. Our original purpose of cutting some of the stone away fell into exploring this grand structure. we then discovered something that shook me to my core and lit a fire of rebellion all at once. in a long-abandoned temple there were three equally honored deities. one was that huntress girl, one we couldn't make out as all traces seemed to be scorched away. and the last. was a depiction of a dragon... we had stumbled and were planning on robbing a city that a dragon had claim over. in other words; his hord.

My companions seemed oblivious to this as we looted a few buildings and even triggered a wonderfully crafted defense mechanism. but little else occupied my mind as we took treasure that a dragon coveted. be he away or not it brought me joy to take from his piggy bank and reintroduce wealth into the world. I honestly do not care if they are metallic or chromatic I dislike dragons very much. they hord and do not spend, they claim domain without adding value. and most of all they look with envy upon what the dwarves make, yet will not buy, they will only steal or extort.
