Agvard Holst is a human Artificer raised in Cran’Tal. He was found by a nepenthe couple close to a river, wrapped in a bundle of cloth, pinned with an emblem and a tag holding his name. The couple couldn’t stand the thought of leaving him there to die, so they brought him to their home in Cran’Tal, where he spent most of his childhood and was treated as the couple's own son, as they couldn’t have children. Agvard's life wasn't easy, treated as less than others even in a place as welcoming as this due to being taller than most kids his age, even taller than most adults. Agvard was a smart and curious kid, always breaking things to learn their inner workings and consistently scolded by his parents due to this. Ultimately, however, it was hard to stay mad at a child for being curious and inventive. They'd laugh it off and give him a pass.
 

 
As he approached the age of 16, his parents began discussing Agvard's future and how best to aid him. They came to the conclusion his future would benefit from putting all that curiosity to good use. Putting all their savings together, they sent the boy to study abroad in Lindblum. Afraid as he was to leave his parents behind, them being the only people he held dear, they still managed to convince him to spread his wings and leave for his journey south.
 
 
Ten years in Lindblum made him friends and rivals, studying under a well-known master. Even so many years in, he never neglected to exchange letters with his dear parents. He learned how to work various metals and machines, how to tend to people in need, how to fight and even how to create his own companion, a Steel Defender aptly named Conscious Algorithm Robot, or Car. Agvard was a good student, devoted to giving all of himself to learn, the notion that his parents used all of their money to give him this chance at the forefront of his mind. After so many years in Lindblum, he was ready to explore the world and discover new things, new metals and machines. All this and more would be necessary to achieve his next breakthrough in the art of artificing. After a brief visit to his parents in Cran’tal, he began the next leg of his journey.
 
 
A few short days later while mining some minerals in a forgotten mine in the countryside of Lindblum, he stumbled upon a deactivated Crystalline Warforged and activated it. After that, both of them started travelling together to learn more about all the mysteries and possibilities of this world.
