Pretty boi, former Assassin, proud owner of a Snider
Vel’drin was the second Child to Zil’dara Duskrael and Durdyn Duskrael, born on Nineday of the 2nd Tenday in Oarfrost, 707 AGR.
6 years before him, Zil’dara gave birth to Vel’dara.
They were born into the Family of Duskrael.
Zil’dara was the one who stems from this line, she chose Durdyn because of his fine features and dexterity.
While Vel’dara was sent to the academy, Vel’drin was raised by the family's servants.
Vel’dara shared some of the things she learned with Vel’drin, though only reluctantly.
The siblings didn’t have a great relationship, but certainly closer than one would think. Though they didn’t openly show it.
When Vel’dara was 26, she was supposed to forgo the Blooding ritual and Zil’dara chose to have Vel’drin go along with her, even though he was just 20 at that time.
Zil’dara had gotten Information from another Noble Family about a couple of Mages, which would be the right fit for the siblings to forgo the Ritual.
The siblings went up to the surface to hunt down the two mages, but Vel’drin saw that there were way more than just 2 people traveling, contrary to the information they had gotten.
The Travelling group noticed the 2 siblings and in a split-second decision Vel’drin shoved Vel’dara into the thick brushwork “Get back home, tell them you traded me off.” he whispered to her, before running out of the side of the brushwork and getting the attention of the group.
(Vel’dara escaped and back in Kuraedar told their Family that she did indeed trade Vel’drin away, she brought back the head of a random stranger she encountered on the way back and in that succeeded in the Ritual. She never confessed the true turn of events, that Vel’drin had sacrificed himself for her.)
The group got hold of him and took him captive, knocking him unconscious.
When he came to, he was in a cart gagged, blindfolded, and shackled. He managed to shimmy the cloth away from his eyes, but the sun was too bright and he couldn’t catch a glance at his surroundings.
They held him captive and he ended up as one of the test subjects for magically-charged anatomical experiments. One of the things they experimented with was his eyesight, they injected different solutions to gather the results. After some time he lost part of his darkvision and his eyes had changed from bright red to a pale silvery blue.
The years have left numerous scars across his body.
When the group realized that the experiments didn’t yield the results they were hoping for, they decided to sell him off to the highest bidder.
In his case, it was a royal family.
Once more he got thrown onto a cart, his destination would be Elegido.
There in the militaristic Splitbane family, he first got treated like a pet, even an attraction, because of the fact that Drow are a rare occurrence in the fortress metropolis. It went like this for a couple of decades until they got bored of him.
Seeing that he was dextrous and effectively expendable, they thought up a new use for him.
They started by letting him spy on other noble families in the city, under the disguise of lending him as an attraction to them. He would spend weeks at a time in different families collecting Information.
As time passed, they started using him to spy on other cities, collect debts, and even, as he started to gain some talents, dispose of people who stood in the way of the nobility's plans.
This went on for several decades, Vel’drin got intel on a lot of other cities around Elegido and earned to find his way around. Making criminal connections and acquiring the skills needed to survive and fulfill the royal family's demands.
At some point, the family sent him to Tafari, a metropolis to the North of Elegido, where he was to handle a couple of different matters.
Vel’drin made his way around the city's lowlifes while gathering information and collecting debts. That is also where he got caught in a bad situation with the local Guards. And so was Dante.
Dante effectively got Vel’drin out of the Situation and stashed him at his home for a couple of days.
Vel’drin then, after the situation had settled, decided to use the chance and make a break for it.
He did not return to Elegido but instead started to make his way to the West, which was 5 months before he met his new companions in Dumpster Fire.
Eventually, he got hired to escort a cart from Woldun's Breach to Phandalia...
He still plans to get his revenge on House Splitbane of Elegido for their mistreatment of him and Sinners of the Serpent, who captured him.
He has his mind set to never step foot back into Kuraedar. Though he effectively doesn’t know where it is even located.
