Kit has the ability to read minds, as well as move small objects with their thoughts. This gift is one of the ones given to them through their pact with Ceo Agnie.

Early Childhood

Kit grew up like almost any other kid in the town of Reddenvale - spending most of their time running through the forest with their older sister, Sionna, attempting to catch sprites, and going to the kind, elderly Aarakocra down the street for cookies. They were taught how to read, write, and speak common by their parents from a young age, but never got anything close to a high school education. Their father, Conry Carmody, taught them math through carpentry, and their mother, Madigan Carmody, taught them science through gardening and cooking.

Kit was a very hyper, curious child, often getting into mischief around the village and returning home late for dinner with scraped up knees and the occasional animal friend. They would sometimes run off to watch other villagers on the ground level work and ask questions if they were able. They also read every book in the tiny town library before getting bored and trying to write stories of their own. These experiences led to Kit picking up a lot of random knowledge that they could never quite figure out what to do with.

Every now and then they would try to sneak off to the upper levels of the town, but would always get caught by the Aarakocra guards and flown back to their family home. After Kit got scolded by their parents for any trouble they got into, Sionna would often take them on adventures in the woods to take their mind off of things, occasionally going as far as the edge of Mistbringer Bog. Despite being strictly forbidden from going into the bog, Kit would often feel a pull towards it anytime they went near. Over time, Kit grew bold and started sneaking off without Sionna or their parents' knowledge to explore the foggy moorlands for themself.

Sionna's Death

When Kit was 13, they were out playing with Sionna, who was 16 at the time, when a mechanical commotion caught their attention. The two went to investigate only to find logging equipment rumbling toward the edge of Reddenvale. The foreman announced that the Ogen Lumber Company had been given permission to operate in that section of the forest, and for any residents to evacuate immediately. The elderly Aarakocra who made cookies stepped outside and tried to tell them off, but was unceremoniously shot. At this point, Sionna rushed forward to confront the foreman. When she refused to step aside, then lunged at the foreman with a knife, another gunshot took her down as well. Horrified, Kit was only able to run away when one of their neighbors pushed them towards their home to tell their parents what was happening. Sionna, unfortunately, passed shortly after the injury. Several animal folk and other members of Reddenvale attempted to fight back against the lumber company, but the Durrendale-based company's superior technology overwhelmed them and that section of the town was deforested.

Teenage Years

After Sionna's death, Kit began wandering further and further into Mistbringer Bog. An unknown force continued to lure them in, using their unsatisfied curiosity to pull them ever closer. Finally, Kit discovered a pond in the middle of the bog that crackled with electrical energy. This was the day they met the Mistbringer itself - Ceo Agnie - a sentient brain preserved in the bog's swampy waters. Ceo Agnie had once been a brilliant scientist from the time before. It hungered for more knowledge of the new world, which Kit provided it in exchange for stories to continue feeding their desire to be something more.

A year after Sionna's passing, near the first anniversary, Kit was wandering the bog as usual when they happened upon a small, lost satyr child. Kit wasted no time bringing the 6 year old home, and after some back-and-forth between their parents, the Carmody family decided to take her in. Almost all she could remember was her name, Daimhin Raines, and that she had somehow woken up in the bog with no recollection of how she had gotten there. Kit found a lot of comfort in watching over Daimhin and teaching her the things Sionna had taught them. As Daimhin's love for insects grew, Kit quickly took to calling her "Little Bug" as a way to honor Sionna, who had always referred to Kit as "Little Fox."

Early Adulthood

Around the time Kit turned 20, their older brother, Todd Carmody, came for one of his infrequent visits to offer Daimhin (who was blossoming into a naturally gifted druid) an application to the prestigious Kempton Academy of Magic. Upon finding out that Daimhin was highly likely to be accepted, Kit sought out Ceo Agnie and requested powers more magical than knowledge alone. After some deliberation, they formed a pact that would provide the Mistbringer any new knowledge Kit learned during college, and in exchange Ceo Agnie would give Kit the ability to use the magics of the mind. After some practice, Kit was able to also get noticed and subsequently accepted into Kempton to go along with their little sibling.

When the day to leave Reddenvale for the university finally arrived, Kit quickly realized that a few years of practice had not been enough to truly prepare them for the world beyond the forest, but with time, they aspire to return to Reddenvale and free their people from the oppressive control of Durrendale once and for all.

Education

Kit did not get a formal education growing up, but they currently attend Kempton Academy of Magic alongside their adopted sibling, Daimhin, as a first year.

Employment

Kit is currently employed at the school as a groundskeeper.

Mental Trauma

The incident that affected Kit's childhood the most is their older sister, Sionna's death. During their early teenage years, the Ogen Lumber Company arrived in Reddenvale to cut down some of the massive redwoods the town's residents lived in. Sionna attempted to stop them, placing herself in front of a tree home to block the workers, only to be shot by the foreman. Kit witnessed this, but was unable to do anything but run. After Sionna's funeral, they vowed to get stronger to protect the ones they love.

Morality & Philosophy

Kit has a very strong sense of right and wrong, but their brash personality tends to lead to them being a little too quick to accuse others of being unjust.

Bisexual. Kit is only attracted to men and other non-binary aligned individuals. For a long time they were afraid of disappointing their parents because they expected them to get a girlfriend and start a family, despite them having no interest in women.

Agender. Kit was assigned male at birth because their father wanted a son, but being intersex, they never felt truly connected to gender of any kind. Their father still accidently calls them "son," and they are often mistaken in public for a woman due to their softer voice and longer hair.

Elvish and Anikin are their native tongues. Common is a learned language that they are proficient in.

Motivation

Kit became a warlock to try to become strong enough to protect their home from Durrendale companies. They are especially motivated by their adopted younger sibling, Daimhin - trying to help guide her through college and protect her while also growing themself alongside her.

Virtues & Personality perks

Kit has very strong opinions on politics and wants to find a way to save Reddenvale from the constant threat of Durrendale looming over the town. They have a deep respect for life and nature, and prefer to avoid violence unless it's the only option. They will not hesitate to lash out verbally or sometimes physically if someone they care about is in danger or being picked on. Kit tends to be more aloof around strangers, but once they've 'adopted' someone, they would go through hell and high water to have their back.

Vices & Personality flaws

Kit is highly impulsive. They prefer to act first, then fix problems later. This has led to them being decent at thinking on their feet, but also has gotten them into more trouble than it has helped. They are a very naive person. Kit has very limited experience with the world, and until attending Kempton, has never ventured farther than the Mistbringer Bog. Their lack of knowledge of other cultures can lead to them seeming insensitive or jumping to false conclusions.

This naivety also extends to magic use. While they have a reasonable amount of power, they have yet to be able to wield it skillfully. They are hesitant to read people's minds, and their combat skills are especially lacking. Aiming under stress often proves a challenge in and of itself when fighting something.
