Calm, patient

Galen was taken into the orphanage in 1379 DR, at 3 years of age. He doesn’t remember his parents but one of the caretakers always told him good things about them, how they were “good hearted free spirits”, she always avoided the subject of their death -or whether they were dead in the first place- though.
 
He grew up in a happy and healthy environment away from all the world’s troubles, with a lot of friends, his two best friends were Yponia the wise and caring lady and Prokos the daring and charismatic -but sometimes reckless- man, but to Galen’s bewilderment nobody else talked to Yponia or Prokos, or even recognized their existence. He always seemed to perform better at tasks that would require skill than others as if he had someone dedicated to teaching him, he even learned to read and write “on his own”, unbeknownst to his teachers he was taught all that by his two “best friends” who were in fact Quori spirits, connected to him in a bond he wasn’t aware of.
 
His eyes always glowed when he experienced strong emotions, but as the orphanage was full of Tieflings and odd children nobody paid it attention, except for Naeara, the caretaker who knew his parents. Growing up he came to understand his bond with Yponia and Prokos better, and they told him about their nature and how it was unusual for him to be able to communicate with them directly, and they taught him how to strengthen his body and mind to be ready in case he was ever attacked by the Dreaming Dark.
 
As an adult he took to being a carpenter and became the town’s helpful handy man helping whoever he can whenever he’s free. He got married and had three children.
 
By the age of 35 he inadvertently went near a plagueland where a wild magic surge yanked his soul into the Astral plane, where he was drifting in the void, in there he was in a different form resembling that of a storm giant -although not as big- it
took him a while to be able to control that form, but after he got the hang of it he could move somewhat freely through the Astral Sea where he had many encounters with different entities, some of which were interested in his condition. His
connection with the twin Quori spirits remained intact but it was somewhat weakened so he could only communicate with them briefly at random times, in his absence Prokos would often pilot his body to travel around the world some of those adventures he’d hear about, some he wouldn’t for better or worse.
 
He continued drifting as he was learning, observing, and conversing through the years, until one day after 82 years of drifting in the void he encountered an Arcane who offered to return him to his body in exchange for knowledge and a favour. 
 
He suddenly returned to his body while Prokos was in the middle of a conversation with a group of adventurers…
